skeriss, I wanted to see the NYU admit letter. Thanks for putting it up, but now it’s just depressing because I got the NYU rejection letter…haha.

RPI has the awesomest online acceptance letter because when I logged in to see it, trumpet music started playing. I was startled when it happened because I was in the middle of doing some other things online when I checked online for RPI so I thought the music was from a pop-up ad at first xD (I later found out that the song is “Hail, Dear Old Rensselaer”)

I also liked Cooper Union’s acceptance letter because it was short and to the point (brevity is indeed the soul of wit); the dean also hand-wrote “Congratulations!” underneath which was a nice touch.

Dear [Insert]:

“OH. Thanks. Enjoy that $65 dollars you guys. Really. Buy yourselves some nice hats or mittens or whatever they use in Evanstown.”

@Casablanca

Make them spend money and send you a copy in the mail :)

I thought that Tulane University and BC had the best acceptance letters!
Tulane came in a ginormous creamy thick envelope with a gold seal and had lots of letters in it! The letter was signed by hand from both my local admissions rep and the dean of admissions, very heartwarming.
Also, BC’s acceptance just came in the mail. Reading from other posts, it said that it comes in an impressive package. And IMPRESSIVE is right! It has to be the classiest folder, pure white with the emblem of the school and Inside is red with a nice invite to the eagle day. The letter was great;

Dear britta852,

I am delighted to offer you admission to the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston College. Based on your academic and extracurricular achievements, the endorsements of people you know well, and your personal written statements, we are confident that you will thrive in this Jesuit, liberal arts learning environment.
blahblahblah
Congratulations and best wishes to you and your family on this wonderful news. The Undergraduate Admissions Office of Boston College will be happy to assist in any way with your decision process. We are genuinely enthused by the prospect of you joining our community.
Sincerely yours,
Christopher O’ Brien

Best part was that the part “genuinely enthused” was underlined in blue pen and Christopher also hand signed his name! I couldn’t stop jumping up and down

I am beyond thrilled that so far, my son has gotten nine acceptance letters. The best part of every letter is the first line that says either “welcome to the class of 2015” or just plain Congratulations. Beyond that, I thought it didn’t matter much. However, that being said, I loved Colgate’s acceptance letter because the Adm. Dir. personalized it. At the end of the letter, he hand wrote, "Someone who knows you well told us, ‘and then quoted one of his teacher rec’s that we had never seen.’ I thought this was such a warm, personal touch. It was too bad that the other letter in the packet was from the finanical aid office saying we don’t qualify for any need-based aid. Glad Wash U, Hamilton and Vanderbilt disagreed!

What does Harvard’s acceptance letter look like?

billy Mc-
bigger problem is that preferred spelling of judgment is without an e. Any college should know that!

probably 95% of the time, acceptances begin with “congratulations!” and rejections begin with some form of “thank you for applying” or “we had a really big pool of applicants this year”

I personality loved Eckerd letter the dean signed it and then wrote in hand “Hope you will use your writing talents on our newspaper.”

I thought it was so cute and personal…almost made me forget about NU…almost.

I hated Claremont Mckenna’s!! They put “congratulations” on the outside- even if the big envelope usually means yes, I like the suspense :(

BC’s was really nice, and Colgate’s was NICE! They put a handwritten note saying “someone who known you well told us you are articulate, persuasive, and intelligent, and in reading your application we found that they were right”

An Lafayette’s letter had typed in there "we enjoyed reading about your weekly trips to the museum with your father and about your work with (nonprofit). It was awesome!

nocrackup:

I’m sure you’ll get into someplace just as or more awesome than NYU :D

wowww the northwestern letter (from the last page) is exactly the same as the one i got last year. thats lame hahaha

I would have preferred a simple rejection that this from Lehigh:

The Committee on Admissions has completed a review of all applications of international students requesting financial aid. We were impressed with your academic credentials, however, we are unable to offer you admission due to the high demand for international financial aid. More information will be forthcoming in your decision letter mailed on Thursday, March 24. If you have questions, please feel free to contact our office after you have received your letter.

In short, “if you had money then you could come”
lame

@realmadrid: arrrgh, I hate those letters! Still, at least it indicates that you’re academically competent.

Dear seriousrem,

Thank you for your application to Wellesley College. The Board of Admission has completed its deliberations and regrets to inform you that we cannot offer you a place in the Class of 2015. Your application was carefully reviewed and we recognized your many accomplishments. Most of our applicants had excellent high school records and outstanding personal qualities. We simply did not have room for all of the superb students who applied to Wellesley this admission season.

Please note that this is the only notification you will receive of your decision and that all decisions of the Wellesley Board of Admission are final. We appreciate the time and care you took in providing us with your credentials and wish you success as you pursue your education.

Fordham’s wait list letter was disappointing, only because they made a point to say, “Last year, approximately 4,000 students were offered a place on our waiting list for admission. From that group, less than 20 candidates were eventually offered admission to the University.”

It seems like less of a “sorry, we can’t take you now, but maybe in the future” letter and more of a “don’t let this get your hopes up, you’re more than likely not coming here” letter, haha

By far the best admission office we dealt with was Trinity University in Texas. They were extremely well organized, well informed and very friendly. All of their presentations were very professional and our regional admissions officer was fantastic to work with. They really go out of their way to make sure that Trinity is a good fit. I wish they could change the catagory they are ranked in with US News because if they were in the LAC rankings I’m sure they would be a top 30 school. I guess being ranked #1 for 19 straight years is not bad but it is in that weird regional grouping. Really nice admissions packet too. They really could not be any nicer!

My Pomona waitlist letter wasn’t even sealed. Thaaaanks guys.
