William & Mary: a bit confusing, but accepted! haha

"Dear xxxxx:

People say that good things come in small packages, but in college admissions, good things come in thick envelopes. Consider this the small package, but something bigger is on its way.

Be sure to check your mailbox closely in the coming days.

I got my official acceptance letter in from Wheaton College and it was a super nice letter because my admissions counselor wrote a nice congratulatory note & what they enjoyed about my application!

My best one was from Bryn Mawr. Handwritten note about commenting on my ECs, lots of “congratulations” which I really wanted to see after my rejections!

it’s not really about letters, but Smith’s packaging is kind of dull… it’s just white w/ a purple border on one side and “Smith College” in the upper right corner… Macalester’s was tiny, Ithaca’s was heavy, and Mount Holyoke’s was just right although the packaging was a little beat up.

I think MICA, Maryland Institute College of Art, has the best acceptance letter. Aside from the generic “Congratulations! etc etc”, there was a hand-written letter by the head of Admissions. It was very personal, and she even mentioned a part of my essay. It was cute.

hmm best acceptance packet probably Montclair state for me they had boatloads of info in there…worst rejection letter well i only know of the one i got from syracuse which was like we had so much competition this year blah blah blah i just threw it out lol

received the stanford rejection this morning. not that cruel as i thought. actually im happy to receive the rejection letter cuz i dont have to make tough choices. :D

Dear____________,
It is my distinct pleasure to inform you that you have been admitted to Hampshire College. After all the hard work you put into your Hampshire application, you now have the opportunity to be a member of our fall 2011 entering class. Congratulations!

It truly has been an honor for each of us in the admissions office to read the many outstanding applications we received. It is fascinating and rewarding to contemplate so many students’ lives as they share their accomplishments and challenges with us. One of our favorite parts of this process is predicting the ways in which each applicant will contribute to the Hampshire community. Your application reflected shining examples of the qualities that make a great Hampshire student: curiosity, initiative and critical intelligence. We are convinced that you are ready to make the most of a Hampshire education and the resources of the Five College consortium.

Now, of course, the decision-making is up to you……

Don’t know if this was said already, but Bryn Mawr’s acceptance package was alarmingly heart-warming, the high-light being a hand-written postcard from the admissions officer who read your application (and an awesomely stylish BRYN MAWR-2015 pin).

Overall, that school’s amazing when it comes to pleasant-ness. When I visited, I arrived late, so they stepped right up to give me a private tour. But then after that my mom complained left and right about how the Admissions Office directed her to eat free at the cafeteria… who notified my mom that policy had changed and she had to go back to the Office and get a pass saying she was a visitor. Well! They apologized and didn’t hesitate to let the four of us in and eat completely free, while the Admissions Office was very compassionate and also apologized about twenty times over. I felt so guilty I didn’t eat a thing, haha! Later, I received a hand-written thank-you-for-visiting note from my tour guide that discussed some of the things we were talking about on the tour.

So, future college applicants, if you’re female and you just want a college applications experience where you’re treated like a princess, look into Bryn Mawr… even if you don’t plan on attending.

Art schools give really nice acceptance packages. From Columbia College, I got a nice box with a sketch book, stickers, and post cards. The envelope even had a nice, simple, “You’re in!” printed on the outside. MICA’s packaging wasn’t as nice, but there was a very nice handwritten note complementing on my portfolio and all the “GD work” therein.

I like how I got two acceptance letters from Penn as an ED applicant. The only difference between the two was that the first said “Congratulations” and mentioned ED, whereas the second said “Congratulations! Again!”. Other than that the package was pretty normal, just a folder, letter, handbook, housing brochure, and a Penn Preview Day thing.

I really liked Pomona’s acceptance letter, because it was like two pages long and felt really personal. It discussed a lot about the school and me, and I just felt like a lot of thought was put into it.

Reed’s acceptance package had glitter in it, which is always a plus

I haven’t recieved the admit packet from Stanford yet, but I can post the acceptance email, if anyone is interested?
