Best/Worst Admission/Rejection Letters

Am I the only one who wouldn’t mind a letter with a huge REJECT or ACCEPTED printed on it?

^^I wouldn’t. I would love that I hate surprises

The wake forest rejection letter was very well put together and it was not as devastating as I thought.

University of Denver’s acceptance letter was an OMG! Nicest letter ever! So was CofC

Sent from my iPhone

Duke ED was pretty harsh haha, they basically said “we usually defer applicants in ED but we decided you weren’t good enough to be part of regular decision”

The email from UVM (University of Vermont) for an acceptance was as follows:

“Congratulations! I am very pleased to offer you admission to the University of Vermont’s Class of 2017. Your academic record and personal strengths promise to enrich our community, and I believe that there are many great reasons for you to consider spending your next four years in beautiful Burlington, VT.”
They included some other stuff, but it was more about how to accept the acceptance lol

This thread is great

Any advice on how to deal with rejections though? ):

The Pace acceptance packet had a big “The Answer is YES!” on the envelope. Very encouraging, made me happy even though it isn’t really a school I’m interested in :)

& @Steffle, I got a rejection from Adelphi and I was surprised because I was so sure I was going to get in, but the way I looked at it was that if they didn’t accept me than I probably wouldn’t enjoy the school anyway lol. Forget about the rejection and focus on those piles of acceptances you will soon have ^_^

UMass’s acceptance package is nice. They gave me a car sticker, a folder, and the envelope said major congratulations on it.

I got into manhattan college for engineering and it says this. "On behalf of the Manhattan College Admissions Committee, it is my pleasure to inform you of your acceptance to the school of engineering as a resident student for entrance to the term beginning in august 2013.

Northeastern University’s Packet says “Are You Ready?” But they released the acceptances online first and they said “Congratulations, ________!
You stood out among a record-breaking pool of applicants and I am pleased to offer you admission to the 116th entering class at Northeastern University.” :D

out of curiosity… do you guys prefer rejection by snail mail or online applicant status updates? idk… i feel like if you’re going to reject me then at least pay for the postage >:)

NC State sends an envelop that says “The Big Envelop” on the front, and they send a copy of the “red and white song” and also send a bumper sticker. The rest of the acceptances I’ve gotten have been pretty lame haha

^I don’t want to see a permanent copy of how much they didn’t like me. I’m really glad that the rejection I got wasn’t mailed.

1Rachel94, what UMass did you get accepted to? I got accepted to UMass Amherst Commonwealth college and my acceptance package was not nearly that elaborate.

New College of Florida (NCF): We knew from the postage on the box. Contained lovely folder saying “You’re in” and a t-shirt, bumper sticker, sunglasses and confetti.

University of Colorado (CU Boulder): Dropped off insulated beverage cups filled with CU-logo goodies to applicants at area high schools before my DD received her decision. DD’s came with a personal note of encouragement which referenced something mentioned in her app. For such a big school I was very impressed, even living in fairly close proximity.

We all had/have a lot of emotion invested in this process so these were wonderful to receive, and when a school acts downright enthusiastic to accept a student, it does help to lessen the pain of getting a rejection letter.

this thread is amazing! :)

I got accepted to northeastern via an email but I’ve received basically 3 letters about my acceptance and then a bumper sticker and got a call from someone from their psychology program because that’s what I plan to major in. I feel so wanted lol

Whoever I get a rejection from I want it to be really harsh! You know, for the jokes of it after the fact… like

"Hello Mr _______
We are pleased to inform you that we did receive all your application material, read through everything, had a couple good laughs over coffee. We took a good long break from all the excitement and then finally returned to your application a couple hours later with the not so hard decision of rejecting you from our programs. We understand that this will be hard for you as it is for the other (place number here) applicants who are receiving this computer generated and completely generic letter cause we really don’t have the time to write one specifically for each student.

We would really appreciate it if you never re-applied here if you decide to apply for next years admission as the application will go straight to the junk mail pile. You will not receive an email. You will not receive a nicely written rejection letter AND you will not be accepted here if your life depended on it!

Thank you for your application,

Yours sincerely, (place university name here)"

Maybe too harsh?

I don’t know how many people on here applied to Appalachian State, but for those who did: The acceptance letter was kind of lame, wasn’t it? It came in a small envelope (like a stereotypical rejection) and was only a few paragraphs. It did not feature any sort of special booklet or postcard… just a stark white piece of paper. They might as well have simply written “You’re in. Just enroll already.” Last year when my sister was admitted to App, she said her package included a window decal. I didn’t even get that.

East Carolina, on the other hand, sent a much better letter. It was very large, so there was no mistaking their decision. The inner lining of the envelope featured a lovely purple floral pattern. This motif was continued on a small portfolio which included the actual letter and a student enrollment card.

VCU actually sent me two acceptance letters. The first I received was for the VCUarts program. This letter came in a small envelope and was quite concise. Two weeks later I received another letter of acceptance from VCU, this time for general admissions. This package was massive and included a large student handbook.

I have received no rejections to report on.
