I live in Pennsylvania I’m not sure if that makes a difference but my daughter is going to college… She already filled out her fasfa And received a great amount of aid since I don’t make that much…I am purchasing a new home with my boyfriend whom it will be an equal purchase big names are on it but I am NOT marrying …My question is is it smarter to put the utilities and other bills in my name or his name to continue to get the most aid for my daughter and my next daughter that will soon also be applying
What you pay in utilities will have no bearing on how much aid you get. If your child is attending a FAFSA only school, your primary home is not included on the FAFSA (if you are applying to a CSS profile school or a school that uses their own financial aid forms, your part of the new home will have bearing on your financial aid).
The financial aid forms don’t ask who is paying for utilities.
However, if your income is extremely low, they may ask you through the verification process, how are you meeting your day to day expenses

For clarification, many, but not all, schools that use Profile to calculate institutional need-based aid take primary home equity into account.
