Better Chances if Yale Contacts YOU?!

Well I was wondering if you get better chances if Yale contacts you. as in their Outreach Program.
Yale’s Outreach Committee contacted my email with the following:

Greetings from the Yale University Outreach Committee!
As you may know, Yale is very excited to have some of the nation’s best and brightest young students interested in Yale. You will soon be receiving the Yale Viewbook in the mail, which is a great way to learn more about the University.

Yale seeks students who represent every background, every interest, every outlook, and every kind of ability to form a diverse student body motivated by a passion for learning and a spirit of community. For this reason Yale follows a policy of need-blind admissions. More importantly, Yale is committed to meeting 100% of a family’s demonstrated financial need, making a Yale education accessible to students of all backgrounds by eliminating cost as a barrier to education

If this email has piqued your interest – reply! I’m here to answer your questions. This summer, students in the Admissions Office we will be making phone calls to prospective students, and we’d love to talk to you. Just reply to this message with your questions or you can send your phone number if you’d like to receive a call. Also, check out the Outreach Committee’s profile on the Facebook under the name “Elihu Yale” and feel free to friend us!

^ Does this mean anything?

No that email doesn’t mean you have better chances.

yea I got that too today ans was wondering the same thing

It means that you are at least in the running since Yale sends e-mails to high school students whose college board tests fit Yale’s freshman profile. It does not mean that your chances are dramatically increased, although who wouldn’t want to jump to that overly-optimistic assumption when Yale is involved.

I don’t think those letters are helping you. All these schools want many, many apps so they can say they admitted a very low percentage. I believe these letters are just trying to get your hopes up and have you apply.
