Better to send February ACT Scores?

My son took an ACT test for a talent search program and got scores yesterday.

My son is waiting for March 10 decisions from several boarding schools. I am assuming most schools are in the final stage of the selection process.

I am wondering whether it’d be better to send the scores to admission offices at this time. Any advice?

I doubt it will help, but I also doubt it will hurt. In the end you might regret not sending the scores so perhaps you should send them. At the most competitive schools, high SAT/ACT scores are the norm, and many applicants participate in talent searches at the highest levels. You can read a few comments about PSAT scores here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/434716-national-merit-finalist-boarding-schools.html

If you have applied to some schools that are not the most competitive, then I think there should be more interest in the scores.

Your son could write a brief letter updating Admissions on any other accomplishments and include the ACT scores.

Congratulations to your son!
