Between 5 schools, whats the best?

I was accepted to the following…

University of Connecticut (Fall 2010)
University of Maryland (Spring 2011)
Northeastern University (Spring 2011)
Fordham University (Fall 2010)
American University (Spring 2011)

I plan to major in Economics, taking cost into consideration which school will I come out of with the best education, job opportunities, connections, etc?

Does starting in the Spring bother you?

How can we take cost into consideration when we don’t know how much each will cost you?

Well I have no money anywhere so the state schools are cheaper even being out of state I’d save 10-15k a year. And yes Spring does bother me…

“taking cost into consideration”

You can get an excellent education at each of these universities. It would be perfectly fine for you to choose the one that is the least expensive for you. If that is a spring admission, take it. Enjoy the all-too brief fall free of formal education.

I agree with happymom. Go with the bargain. You could probably save several years of salary this way, or come out with less debt, and have the ability to afford graduate school if you later want it. Sooo many advantages to the savings.

While there are lots of generalized beliefs out there (held by students in HS on CC), about which schools have more ‘prestige’ or ranking or whatever, but I don’t think anyone will show you data that demonstrates one of these on your list provides more job opps or connections than another. You could do great at all of them so save your $$ and make the financially smart decision.

i would do uconn or fordham, but if it’s a big difference in price like you say, then go for the cheaper option

What state do you live in? These are close enough in rank that I would go with the cheapest option.

What is your home state?

The only problem with Spring admit is that you miss out on all the “ice-breaker” fun activities schools generally plan the week before classes begin. These are opportunities to meet new friends and such. They usually include lawn band concerts, BBQs, parties, canoe trips, etc.

I would go with UConn.

Did you apply to your own in-state public? If not, is it still too late to apply? It’s probably the cheapest there.

how much will your parents spend each year on your education?
