I would find a way to make use of it instead of letting it go to waste. Use glue or try double sided tape. If you call Papyrus they would be able to help you out or at least give you recommendations. I think they would want to know if customers are having issues with one of their products.
Every time I go to a holiday party I find myself talking to someone who has random specks of glitter on their face and I know that they recently wrapped with glitter paper, probably for a host gift. I have to say, it’s very distracting when trying to carry on a conversation!
Love Papyrus products! Good quality lear shipping tape will work to seal that type of paper. Good luck!
@stardustmom - do these glittery people know your Screen name?
Thanks for the suggestions on how to seal it. Not sure if I want to go out and buy glue or different tape.
If your present is regular shaped can you use ribbons/strings instead of tape to secure it ?
I’d write a letter of complaint to Papyrus, enclose a copy of the receipt, then throw the paper out.
Ok. I am heading out.
@munchkin yes but now I have to go out and buy ribbon or stronger tape.
@intparent – I already complained via their website; no response. I might do that but I feel like I have to send back the offending paper and dare them to do a YouTube video of three employees trying to wrap something with that paper. Or maybe I should make my own.
Haha! I like both those ideas.
We have multiple Walgreens stores in our area. If you do also, you could take it back to a different Walgreens and point out that it is unusable, since it can’t be taped shut. Maybe even demonstrate with some tape you bring with you. Hopefully you’ll find a manager with some common sense.
^I was thinking about that. There’s one near where I live and it’s in a nicer part of Manhattan than the store I went to. Good idea.
$10 per roll is a lot. If probably try at least one more store to see if they will refund you.
@Himom I agree. I get wrapping paper from papyrus when it is 50% off and then again it comes to at most $3.
Even now they are having a 30 % off sale which beats Walgreens price. Also going forward its always best to directly purchase from the store if possible so that if there are issues you have a better chance of having the problem resolved.
Usually after Christmas they have their yearly big sale where I purchase things 50 to 75% off and I am then good for the rest of the year. If you join their rewards program (perks member) there are even further discounts. For example I got a box of $17 stationary for $1.50 and the 2nd box was 75 cents from Papyrus directly. (total 24 cards) That’s cheaper then purchasing a card from the Dollar store.
Here’s an update! I finally got an email from Walgreen’s and they said a manager would be in touch. About a week later this woman called and said I could come in to the store where I bought it and get a full refund. Which I did.
Thanks everyone for reading this and posting. I’m glad I got my money back and gladder still I don’t have this glitter bomb in my house anymore.
I’m glad you got this resolved. I just wanted to add we’ve had this glitter paper in our house for 3 years because we couldn’t figure out how to tape it up. We just figured it out this year. Use the clear packing roll of tape, meant to tape up priority mail boxes. It’s clear, so it doesn’ t show. You have to wrap it around the box to keep it in place. scotch tape of course won’t work. The job calls for a lot of heavy duty but clear tape.
This year, I went ”greener” and used a lot of brown paper bags and shipping boxes under the tree, plus lots of ribbon. The kids thought it was a hoot and a bit more eco-friendly. ;). We had no glitterbombs in our house.
Good to know how to deal with difficult wrapping paper.
^^ we also are recycling gift wrap bags, bows and boxes. I drew the line at tissue paper. We used our lot from last year (I saved the best bows etc) and now this year, I put a huge box behind the couch of our best seconds from this year to recycle. I love this idea. Dreaming of a “green” Christmas for 2018, why not?
I always save nice ribbon. I also buy tissue paper which is easy to wrap with and dress things up.
We bought some glitter paper at a Paper Source store and as we were checking out the clerk told us we needed to use a special tape for the paper—it was called super tacky tape. Tape looks red but you have to pull off the top layer and it is then clear and sticky on both sides. Other than that it looks like regular scotch tape. I thought it was difficult to use. I don’t think I will buy the glitter paper again. I save ribbons and reuse.
Papyrus is having a great sale right now. In some of the stores all the holiday stuff is for $1 each but you need to call your branch to see if they are having that promotion otherwise all holiday stuff is 50% off.
