BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

Congrats to all on your acceptances !! Still in shock over the college admissions scandal. My D and I sat next to Felicity and her daughter at the CMU audition!

@Jazzycats Oh wow! Sickening. What a dumb thing to do, these parents ruined their kids’ lives (unless I’m being too naive, being rich they’ll buy their way out) and most importantly I feel sick knowing how they displaced hard-working, honest kiddos, ugh.

@nyermom Hang in there, this radio silence time is coming to an end!

Class of 2022 mom here - I have been riding along with all of you and WOW! how things have started to boom in the past few days. Congrats on all of the acceptances. =D> Those denials are so tough, but they were not meant to be and I 100% agree with other posters that the denial is not indicative of your talent level. You didn’t fit. There are so many stories of famous actors being rejected by theatre schools - my favorite non-actor is Steven Spielberg being rejected from the school of cinema at USC - twice. OOPSY.

I felt I had to chime in today regarding those big scholarships and the AMAZING FULL RIDE, congrats on Evansville! Wow! As long as the program has what you are looking for (very important), I say follow the money. The school really wants you. They see something very special in you, and they threw money behind how much they want you. Unless money is of no consequence, being debt free after four years of theatre school is huge. These new actors need to hit the audition circuit and being strapped with boatloads of debt can be limiting. (I need to go find the forum for kvetching about the cost of higher ed. :)) And for parents who are paying the debt - we need to retire some day! Take the offer of money very seriously.

Best wishes to all of you!

Emerson will send email to check portal. In past years it was around this time. No mail or call from Pace here. Congrats to all the awesome acceptances out there.

@ginaf1102 BU set my retirement plans back by 5 years :))

I heard that PACE was understaffed and that letters and calls are still coming, keep up hope !

My son got his call from PACE FTVC Tuesday night!! He was WL at Depaul this week, but he seems super optimistic about that one. So far yes from Ithaca, Marymount Manhattan and Fordham. Congrats to everyone on their acceptances so far!!

Yay! So happy your S got his call from Pace FTVC! Congrats!

@ginaf1102 thank you! We are still in shock over Evansville. It certainly would make our life much easier if S accepts the offer. So much to consider. Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Congrats @danielle6183!!!

@love2share Thank you!!

Congrats @danielle6183 , awesome options!!

That’s true @NYDreammom. As long as it’s quiet, it’s still not a “No”. Eventually, it will be nice to get my life back.

Has anyone received a letter from Pace about their child’s BFA admissions status yet?

Just got our mail and nothing from Pace.

Nothing from Pace. And we are NYC, so I would have thought we’d be on the early end of receiving any letters.

Well, I’m glad we’re not the only ones. I try to make sure my D is vigilant about checking messages without freaking her out. I just got a call from an unknown local number and, even though I always assume they’re spam, I answered it…just in case. It was the same old Chinese-language robo-call. That’s how desperate I am.

S got an email from Emerson saying that decisions are out … I am letting him be the one to check the portal and he is still in school, so the suspense is killing me!

Emerson is a yes for my D :smiley:

@Gapyearguru Yay! Congrats on Emerson!
