Big 4 Full Time Interview Chances

I’ll be looking to interview for a Big 4 full time job in the Fall at a top 25 accounting school (NIU) so all of our recruiting is on campus and we are a highly recruited school. Now I have not had a internship before do have some other experiences. Also my GPA is 3.94 for accounting and I believe 3.8 overall (could be 3.75).

That is a portion of my resume that I haven’t updated since this spring 12’ which I’ll obviously be updating. Since then I’ve elected and started to serve as NABA Vice President and have been selected for NIU’s ELC course. The ELC course is a prestigious course we must apply to much like a job and work with actual firms (mine is Escort) to work on specific consulting projects. This is not a accounting course but allows for a ton of experience working with groups. I’ll also be ready to take the CPA test upon graduation as I’ll have 150 hours.

So for those with experience what are my chances at landing a full time interview?

You already posted this on WSO, and as you can see, that was the right place to ask it. Most people on here probably don’t even know what the “Big 4” is.

What office you are applying for?

Also not trying to be racist but it appears that you are a black student. If you are the only black student in your class with a GPA like that from a heavily recruited school, you have a great chance.

WSO did answer this question for me already but I posted at these two forums at about the same time.

I’m applying for the Chicago office in audit though they do allow us to choose different offices. As far as the only black student with a high GPA (or at all maybe), I’m not sure if that matters but I guess I will take any advantage that comes to me.

^Don’t worry. I will be shocked if you don’t get one. Auditing is known for huge turnover. Many people find auditing boring but at the same time, it involves pretty long hours and tight schedule and the pay isn’t all that great considering the hours. All these translate to a perfect combo for getting out.

I used to work at a Big Four firm in Chicago, and our partners basically hired from three target schools: Illinois, Notre Dame, and Northern Illinois

I left the firm awhile back, but I am sure that things haven’t changed much. As a result, if you are sociable in the interviews and can speak well, you should have no problem landing a job in audit at Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, or PwC.
