<p>^ I too have started to wonder if these two issues are connected.</p>
<p>I can’t lie - I feel extremely judgemental about parents who won’t “let” their children move farther away because they “can’t bear it.” I feel sad for their kids - this is the time to let them SPREAD THEIR WINGS! I will admit that I am hoping that our DD’s spreading her wings to the east coast will result in her deciding that she wants to return to the west coast for adulthood and to raise her own children, but I am not going to restrict her from doing what she is passionate about. Seriously hoping that four years of darling boots and cute sweaters will get this out of her system. :)</p>
<p>That said, I think the purpose of this board is for those of us who are just a bit ahead of other parents timing wise to advise them. In terms of OPs concerns about the scam artist, whether it is an excuse or a truth is not my concern. Even if the scam info is not helpful to her, someone else will read it and hopefully watch their older relative a bit closer.</p>
<p>i think everyone has been in a similar situation. I wouldn’t drop college all together. an education usually provides a better job in the long run. I fear that the person may never go back to school if you drop college to start working. </p>
<p>I know student loans you have to pay back, but its a thought. or perhaps like others said, go to a college that offers certificates or diplomas and then you’ll be done in a year or two</p>

<p>college degrees don’t guarantee “X” amount of salary unless it is in software and medicine. So, unelss you in that I would hold off for a bit. There is no problem in graduating later.</p>
