Big Question. (aiming for COMBINED COLLEGE/MD PROGRAMS)

I’m junior and…
SAT - 630 (V) 800 (M) 660 (W) - 2090 (took only once, definitely taking again) –> aiming for 2200
SAT II - 800 (Math IC) US & BIO (in May) –> planning to take MATH IIC PHYSIC CHEM

GPA - 3.98 (unweighted) 4.3 (? not sure) (weighted)

APs - AP STAT (5) AP EURO (4) AP US (taking now) –> in senior year I’m taking AP Lit. AP BIO. AP CHEM. AP CAL BC

StonyBrook summer research program (accepted for this summer - I’m going)
StonyBrook summer session (planing to take English or One of Sience)

Now, my question is that to go StonyBrook 7-year BA/MD program or Sophie Davis BA/MD program, what do I have to do from this point? (I gave up Brown 8-year program.) My friends are saying that I am taking “only” 3 APs. (took two in 10th grade and I am taking only 1 this year) So, my plan is to take Physics, Bio, Chem SATIIs. Someone told me that if I am taking only 3 Aps, I’d better take a lot of SAT IIs. Is that true?
Ok… My first question.

  1. Do SAT IIs (if I take more than 5 and score above 750) cover my few APs?
  2. To go Stony or Sophie Davis 7-year Program (I heard those two are about the same level, actually Sopie is little more challeging) what do I have to get on SAT I?
  3. What do u suggest me to do now? (other than to improve SAT I and to take more SATIIs)
  4. Which other colleges do u suggest? (that have Combined MD program)
–> NYU, Brown U, Boston U, Northwestern U, U of Rochester, Brooklyn College, Penn State U, Union College, etc.
  5. All Combined College/MD Program are really tough? –> which means are they IVY LEVEL? more specifically Cornell Level?

3 is the most important now.

oh my god. I have so many questions and I cannot really organize my thought. Please Please answer those 5 questions first. Please. THanks.

um…why are you giving up on Brown’s 8-year?

UCSD has a program but you have to get at least 2250 on the SAT to even be able to apply for it.

And no, a combined MD program typically is easier than the usual pre-med to med school route because usually they require you to maintain 3.5ish (maybe lower at Stony Brook?), which is what you would need to do to be competitive when applying for med school anyways. Also, the MCAT and applications/interviews are not required, which means you can (relatively speaking) breeze through undergrad knowing that you got a garuanteed spot.

However, realize that the two programs you are looking at are not by any means top med schools, which might hurt you in the long run when you are looking for residencies. You have excellent grades and ECs, and it seems that you can keep up the work and can get into a med school much better than somewhere like Stony Brook.

Either that, or really try for somewhere like Brown’s or Northwestern’s programs
