I got my math II scores back, and was satisfied to see I got an 800. On the real SAT I got a 670 and on the psat I got a 71 (taken within three weeks of one another). Why did this happen?I am good at math or so I thought.

P/SAT math is (obviously) much easier than math II, and as such the curve is much harsher for the P/SAT. If I remember, the curve for 800 on math II gives you leeway of missing 3-4 questions, but missing the same number of questions on the P/SAT puts you in the range of 670-710, as you mentioned.

I missed 3 math questions on the PSAT, and I’m sure I know all the math and all their little tricks, but now I guess it’s just minimizing stupid errors…

But no one can deny/argue that math II measures ur math ability better than SAT 1.

If one gets 800 in math II, they are good at math, as simple as that.

Colleges look at sat math score to see if a candidate is good at math.

And Top schools require math 2 because they know 800 in sat 1 math doesnt really say much about one’s math ability.

so IMO, if you get 800 in math 2, colleges will ignore whatever he/she got on sat math… (unless its like 500s)

If that’s accurate than that is very comforting, I am definitely still taking the SAT again and then also the ACT.

I have an 800 Math II. My SAT I math went from 700 to 770, and then dropped to 720. I think it just has to do with stupid errors. After checking my answers on here, I thought I had done everything correctly for the latter 2 scores, but there’s always careless errors that bring it down.

Math II does seem to measure math ability better. SAT I Math tends to be more about reasoning, and word problems, while the SAT II Math is more pure mathematics.

Yeah I got the blue book and took two sat practice tests, just really trying to minimize stupid errors. It seems to be working, I got a 710 then a 760!
