<p>i posted this in the Community Cafe but no one is really posting, so i figured parents might appreciate it more. I know the Moscow Theatre and Beslan school hostage crisises were very big events (at least to me they were) so this is pretty big news for me</p>
<p>Shamil Basayev was killed today! For those of you who dont know, hes a Chechen terrorist mastermind known for orchestrating the Moscow theatre crisis and the Beslan school hostage crisis. Read up on these acts, some of the most barbaric things ive ever heard. These are all parts of what is known as the Chechen wars as a seperatist government in Chechnya has tried to seccede from Russia. Thank god hes dead.</p>

<p>Too bad they didn’t get the others, who along with this monster, carried out that grissly act. Long may he burn in hell.</p>
<p>yeah but he was the big one…theyve almost had him a couple times. I read once about a big battle in Grozny where the Chechen rebels had to free and the Russians mined the escape and I think he lost a leg or something. Nevertheless, he was very illusive</p>
<p>im still a little surpised that no one cares. I guess if they dont hurt america, americans dont care. but if they hurt america, we expect everyone else to pity us. Typical american double-standard</p>
<p>I watched a television program on the Chechen take over of the school. Whatever sympathy I had for the Chechen people ended that day. What those terroists put those children through was beyond belief. I can only hope Russia gets ride of all of them.</p>
<p>Yeah it was terrible. for those that dont know: Chechen terrorists took an elementary school with 1200 kids and teachers hostage. They loaded the gym up with explosives and stuck all the honstages in there. Hostages were killed every once in a while, and at one point the rebels agreed to let medical workers in to take away bodies and then opened fire on the meds. Then, russian special forces troops tried to come in or something like that, i dont remember exactly,a nd bombs started going off. In the end i think almost 400 people died, half of which were children. All the terrorists were killed except one, a couple were lynched after it was over by local fathers of children in the school.</p>
<p>The other thing, the moscow theatre hostage crisis, is infamous because after Chechen’s took over a theatre with about 1000 people in moscow, Spetznaz special forces troops gased the building. They were able to kill all the hostage takers but the gas killed many of the hostages because the gas was a very secretive highly classified weapon and the military refused to tell the hospitals what it was when they were treating victims.</p>
<p>All in all, you can attribute at least 500 deaths from these two cases, and probably a lot more as a result of militayr fighting and other lesser terrorist attack, to Basayev. Its a big deal</p>
