Biggest frustration with searching for scholarships?

What’s your biggest frustration with searching for scholarships online?

I’m getting tired of filling out the same profile survey on every scholarship site out there. How bout you?

Discovering that almost all of those “merit” scholarships have either a need component or a URM requirement, or both.

And geek_son was pretty annoyed that one of his classmates kept entering all of his email addresses into the “Refer a friend and win $10,000!!!” sweepstakes on some seedy scholarship site, so his previously squeaky-clean email address (the one he has to keep open for important notices on his renewable scholarships) now gets regular messages advertising bookstores, loans, and… well, drugs that are meant to help with the other kind of ED.

lol, geekmom! D was a bit exasperated toward the end that all the essay questions just were slightly different…much editing was done.

I agree with geek_mom. I wish scholarships would just be completely honest up-front if kids must have financial need to be seriously considered. Same with URM status, or any other status if it is going to be a base requirement for consideration.

I wonder why they aren’t up front about that type of information, you’d that they would put that out more, considering it’s the main requirement.

My biggest frustration this year was (as a junior) receiving emails for scholarships that you had to be a senior for. I completely filled out the FastWeb profile correctly… it was really frustrating.

My biggest frustration is that once you filled out a survey, 99% of the scholarships did not apply to me anyway!

I agree with the two above. What was the point in entering information about my grade level if FastWeb is still going to alert me of scholarships specifically for students already enrolled in college?

Oh, frustration #2: the people who complain that you “take” all the scholarships they were going to enter.

Selfish, selfish… how dare you.:D

I hate having to decide between first year college student or college sophomore. When I click first year college it either gives me only ones seniors are eligible for or some that ONLY freshman can apply for. When I click sophomore, it gives scholarships I can only apply for after 2 years in college.

I am going into my first year of college this year, but I will be a sophomore.

Yeah I wish they would let you select multiple options or at least explain the options in more detail.

I would say when I read that there will only be a few selected scholars, such as 5.
