How likely is theft of bicycles at BU? Even with a good lock is there people that steal them at night? I think it will be very efficient to bike around campus, particularly from Warren to FitRec. But, I am worried about someone stealing my bike, you know.

It definitely does happen, but there are a lot of storage and street posts for you to lock your bike too.

BU recommends the U-locks, because they’re sturdy as hell. Everything else could possibly be clipped and stolen.

just as a note, it’ll probably be harder to ride your bike during the winter months since the roads are always clogged up with snow and the sidewalks are icy/slippery

^could always break out the ole’ tire chains. lolz

lol @ michael
@alectricity…yes, i would use public transportation during the winter
@Ken…yea i noticed a lot of the people there had U locks

Does Warren have an indoor bike garage?

Yes Warren does have an indoor bike garage. And you don’t have to live in Warren to use it…any BU student can use it.

thx swim…

Is it common to see students using bikes? I didnt even think of getting a bike and (if I go) I may use one now

We thought about this this weekend, and second the U lock observation. We were told that bikers bike year round, but our daughter decided not to bring a bike after observing the incredibly busy traffic patterns. I know I wouldn’t want to ride down Commonwealth… lots of confusion and not a lot of space. If you are experienced it would be great, and there was a beautiful path down the Charles River.
