Bilingual-Does it help?

I’ve posted it before but now i’m going to thread it. When applying to prep schools does being bilingual help? I speak English and Portuguese. I know schools want diversity and everything but i don’t look Brazilian/Latino. I look like a scrawny white kid from a small town in Connecticut. I lived in Brazil for the first 5 years of my life and then moved to the US of A. Would the admissions office be looking for diversity in how you look or where you’re truly from?
P.S. If somehow i insulted someone on making comparisons on skin color and look, i am sorry.

Sure, it can help, but it is by no means a deciding factor in the grand scheme of things. Instead of focusing on ethnic diversity, focus on “personal diversity”–what makes YOU different? Relying on your unique ethnic diversity just won’t cut it.

Simply being bilingual will probably not help. That you grew up in Brazil may, as that gives you a unique perspective. By the way, race and ethnicity are not about how you look, it’s about your ancestry. That’s why there’s a box you check, not a picture you send in so they can evaluate the colour of your skin.

Thanks for the answers. I was just wondering.
