Would taking the SAT-II Subject Test or a similar proof of proficiency in a bilingual language make up for the lack of some years of a foreign language? I am proficient in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish, and have taken two years of french. There is no room in my schedule for the third course without getting rid of orchestra, which I am first chair in my section. I am wondering how this would come across on my application, especially if I am planning to apply in Ivy League schools.
It would definitely show that you are proficient. Colleges sometimes do waiver foreign language year requirements if you speak a language fluently, but it might be best to refer to the colleges you’re applying to.
