Can everyone share their son/daughter’s major and stats (GPA, SAT/ACT)? Thanks

Sure! Math major, 4.0/4.3ish? not sure what her weighted is exactly, 1510 SAT

It feels so wrong that they release OOS first. We are the one paying tax

True. It seems other public schools release in-state before oos

I’ve also heard that it can be easier to get in from out of state, which is also the opposite of most state schools. I think it’s because they are trying to attract more OOS students

And NY is the one of the only few state do not have reciprocal agreements with close by state for tuition , get screwed over and over

this sucks

3.5/3.7, ACT 32 - cinema major, a few AP’s, bunch of honors, “senior snapshot” grades are all A’s and A -‘s (don’t know if they even consider that but counselor sends automatically)

How does your daughter like Bing? My D just got accepted OOS to SOM. I’m a Bing alum, and loved my time there, but it was quite awhile ago:)

I’m sorry–I hope you hear soon!

She loves Bing! (Maybe too much lol). She will likely transfer out of SOM to Harpur. The business program is very math/analytics heavy. I think she wanted more of the PR/Advertising side of marketing - not the data analytics. But she absolutely loves her business law class. The dorms are nice and she has made a nice group of friends. She is interested in rushing in the Spring so she has been actively checking out the greek life - but it is not necessary at all - there is so much going on. She had a mentor for one of her classes to help with resumes and linkedin and such so that was nice. Intro classes are large and they was not much orientation type info for the learning management system they use, so she got tripped up in the beginning with missing some assignments because she just did not know where to look (just as much her fault tho I am sure). She just registered for next semester and was able to get classes no problem so that was a relief. Overall she has had a good experience. She tells me that everyday is a great day at Binghamton - lol!

Love that she loves it there! I had the best four years at Bing, and my friends from college are still my very closest friends today. A Harpur grad myself, I was scared SOM would be too math heavy for my D, and you pretty much confirmed that fear. She’s interested in market research, and expects some math but would prefer math “light”
lol. I guess she has to experience it first and make the change like your D if it’s not what she wants. Continued good luck to your D!

Well, OOS pays more so

My in-state (NYC) DD was admitted to Bing last night (got an email about portal update that she didn’t see until this morning). Admitted to Business School. Full IB diploma candidate, 35 ACT (34M/35S/35E/36R), 3.9 UW GPA; who knows weighted – I don’t know how to do that really. She applied at the deadline, on Nov 1. Wasn’t expecting to hear this early. Her brother applied early 2 years ago and heard in the first wave of in-state in mid-December; pretty similar stats profile – slightly higher grades, slightly lower test scores. He applied to Harpur, though; I can’t remember if business EA decisions came out earlier.

Congratulations to her (and her parents)! Hopefully her acceptance is the first of many favorable in-state decisions!

Not comparing to most other state for OOS. And consider the tax we paid over the years. Simply not right. No wonder people want to move out NY

You seem to be missing the point. OOS pays a lump sum each year. In state students pay a lower yearly tuition. Plus, people pay taxes in almost every state. The schools want the money.

And other state do not have higher acceptance rate for their OOS students, I am complaining not arguing

We have not see anything yet, but my daughter applying engineering, not sure if that make any difference
