A record-setting $55 million commitment from a Binghamton University alumnus and New York state will establish the Center for AI Responsibility and Research, the first-ever independent AI research center at a public university in the U.S. Research conducted via the new center will build upon Binghamton research that advances AI for the public good.
Oh . . . But they’re not the flagship.

Very cool. In my circles, Binghamton is on the list of publics that has been seen as increasingly attractive in recent years, rightly so, and this kind of thing will surely help keep that momentum going.
This is a very significant development. Thank you for sharing this news !
I think that this is very good.
This also may help to remind all of us that there are a large number of very good universities in the US where a student can get an excellent education. You do not need to attend a “top 10” or even “top 100” school (I am guessing that Binghamton probably is top 100, but I do not really know and do not think that there is any point in checking – it is a very good university).
And obviously at least one Binghamton alumnus did do very well to be able to provide this excellent and generous gift.
