Bio 206L Summer

Does anyone know how hard/how much time this class would require if I took it this summer, along with Bio 311D?

I heard the Bio 205L lab was easier from my pre-pharm friend. And there is a “practice” lab I think where they grade you on how well you do the lab (I heard from my friend… do not know if it was Bio 205L or 206L). But my counselor did advise me not to take the bio lab in the summer, saying that if I wanted a GPA booster, then I should take a nonscience class instead.

xtra-- I think you’re meaning the lab practical. BIO205L definitely has it, it’s considered the final test for the course, and I’m sure other labs do too. I was probably more nervous for that practical than any other handwritten test.

texasgirlut-- Labs take a lot of time, practice with the equipment, and analysis so it’s best to do it in school for a full semester so you get good supervised practice for the practical. My BIO 205L lab was 4 hours long every Tuesday with a 1 hour discussion on Monday. Analysis papers and a bit of reading were done outside of class. So although it counts for 2 hours of credit, you’re having to put a lot more time into it. If you just need credit for a science class/need a GPA booster, just take a non-majors science class in summer like xtra said.

Thanks! The only thing I’m unsure about is that I will be taking genetics in the fall and won’t be able to take 206L until spring. I took the chemistry lab (204) last spring. How does the bio lab compare with the chemistry lab?
