bio/biomedical engineering REACH schools

Out of all 8 ivies (except Cornell) and other top schools with good biomed engr program (Duke, MIT, etc),
which schools put less importance on SAT scores?
and consider essays and each applicant’s circumstance more?

I’m an Asian, female…
I moved to America 3 years ago, and…since i’m not like other super-smart asians, I don’t have a good SAT scores:(
620 on V and 540 on writing…(I know!)
But I just want to apply a few “impossible” reach schools (willing to give up a few days of my winter break even though I don’t have any chance:))…

CC experts! Any suggestions about which 2 schools I should apply to?
HELP! (need to turn in school report and recs soon!!!)

hmm…just a quick stats,
SAT V:620 SAT M:760+ SAT Math IIC:780 SAT Physics:690 SAT Writing: 540 TOEFL: 270+
GPA: 3.864 (3.1 when I first came here b/c English, but 4.0 after that)
I think I’m going to take Physics and writing again on Jan.
Hope I can get 750+ and 600+.

I think I’m a typical Asian girl…good at math and science…joined robotics, etc. Good recs. and essays.

Which two “impossible” reach schools should I apply to?
Penn? Duke? Brown? MIT? Columbia? ANy suggestions, plz??

smileppl-of all the schools listed, brown takes SATs into the least consideration. I would also suggest that you apply to Duke, not only because it’s awesome, but because the Pratt school of engineering is expanding this year and it should be easier to get into (especially as a girl). That said, last year 9% of applicants with a 1300-1400 SAT were accepted into Pratt, so it will be tough. However, because you’re a recent immigrant (Duke loves internationals), I believe your verbal and writing scores will be taken a lot less into consideration and you should stand a shot.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot, incollege88! ACtually, Brown, Duke, and Penn are my top 3 choice. I guess I’ll apply to Duke! But isn’t Brown closer to LAC? THat’s the only thing that holds me back from applying there:( Does anyone have any idea about PENN?
