BIOCHEM Lecture vs Autotutorial

Which biochemistry course is recommended? How is the autotutorial course? How is the Lecutre?
Which is easier overall?
Advice? Tips?
I heard BIO 332 is tough and the professor is terrible... Thoughts?
Should I avoid her and take Auto?

(I took Physics autotutorial, and although I was on top of my game, and barely used any of my wild cards, I did terrible in the class.)

I didn't think Prof Bik Tye was bad at all, although you may need to get used to her accent. I think you really need to figure out why you didn't do so well in the physics course. Was it because of the difficulty of the subject or is it because you do better in a more structured environment? The average for 331/332 is a B+, relatively high considering if it is a required course for all bio majors.

I took 331+332 for the sole purpose of having Professor Feigenson for 331. He is the best professor I had at Cornell. He genuinely cares for his students and goes out of his way to help. He's a fantastic professor. He once told me that he's passed numerous times to take a sabbatical because he "doesn't want some other schmuck teaching his class."

I put a lot of time and energy into Physics, but I still did bad. I would put about 4 hours a day into it. I think the main problem was that the tests were all multiple choice. I am not the best at multiple choice, especially tricky questions like that.
Dewdrop, what you get in the class each semester? How was the second semester? How were the weekly quizes?
What do you think?

i heard that autotutorial isn't multiple choice, but rather prelim-based. is this true?

i'm personally taking autotutorial because it fits my schedule and style of learning. i think the people who claim that it's more difficult are not taking into account the fact that auto fits two semesters of biochem into one. what's everyone else think? i'm not sure yet so tell me exactly what the pros and cons of both are please.

The 331 quizzes, prelim and final were a combination of multiple choice and short answer. Everything was straightforward.

The 332 prelims were also a combination...but mostly short answer. The final was all short/long answer. These exams were not as straightforward but I liked them because they made me think.

I did well in each class.

How are the 331 quizes exactly? Hard? Easy?
How many questions? What type of questions?
How much time of studying do you have to put into them?

For 331 quizes, the questions come directly from the lectures powerpoints and you don't have to read the book. I used to spend tuesdays,(the day before the quize), to study for the quizes and it turned out well. The sweet deal is that if your final exam score is higher than your overall course grade then only the final exam grade will count for you! As long as you attend all the lectures, and put enough time in the class, you will do fine. And yes Professor Feigenson is awesome!

331 quizzes are super easy...and I love his policy on the final exam/course grade.

I know someone who did do any of the quizzes or the the class average on the final and got a B+. I don't recommend doing that :-)
