Biochemistry,Pharmaceutical Sciences and medicinal chemistry?

Hi. I am currently undertaking A level course in Singapore and will only graduate next december. I will most probably choose to move to the US for further studies after my A levels. however I am confused of what course i should take in university.

I am interested in drug development and drug discovery and i don’t know whether to take a course in pharmaceutical sciences or biochemistry?and is there such a course called medicinal chemistry

can someone tell me what’s the difference?

and i plan to settle in indonesia (my home country). is it true that the career prospects there for research related jobs is very poor? and which course is the most practical to take? thanks.

medicinal and pharm chem are basically the same. they are concerned with making a drug to put into the body.
biochem is more concerned with how the internal chemistry of a cell influences the whole body.

yes, there is such a thing as medicinal chemistry.

i cant say anything about jobs in indonesia.
