How hard or easy are these courses? My possibilities of maintaining an A in those classes?

I took BISC 120 with different professors but its mostly pure memorization with some application. As long as you read the book (or slides depending on professor) and understand and memorize the material, you’ll do fine. Remember that every individual point is equal on the 1000 point scale so even if it seems small, quizzes, clicker questions, and lab stuff all have some weight on your final grade in addition to the heavily weighted exams.

CHEM 105 is a little different as its mostly application of formulas/problem solving with little to some memorization.

The webpage for the summer session of 105a (taught by Parr) is still up if you want to check out the exams (along with some other stuff) before its taken down and replaced by fall. You can save them as practice for fall.

Doing fine as in A? I want to get into FSH for second semester. Are the chances high for that?

So do professors change all HW assignments and tests each semester?

Getting an A is up to you, after each midterm (which makes up the bulk of your grade), the professor will post cutoffs for the exam giving you an idea of what your current grade is. However, this is not final as the classes are curved at the end and other points such as lab and quizzes are not factored in. If you find yourself doing poorly, then you obviously need to put in some more effort whereas if you getting “As” on the exams then you’re in a great place.

Does FSH even take people 2nd semester? I’ve never heard of anyone trying to do that considering its a 2 semester program and you’re essentially missing half of it. I guess you could email and ask about it.

In Chem, the homework assignments are not collected or graded so they don’t change and they are there for your benefit. Whether you want to do them is up to you. Of course the tests change, but the material is the same and there’s only so many ways you can approach problem solving. One semester will be solve for this variable where as another semester will be solve for another variable.

yes- you can be invited to FSH after the first semester if you perform well first semester.

A’s are difficult to come by, but if you have a strong science background (AP/IB) and stay on top of the work, it is easier. Most pre-meds take these classes together. About 1/4-1/3 drop the class during the first semester (informal accounting by D who noticed the difference in students taking the exams during the semester), less dropped during the second semester.
