Biology 2010 Prep

im very confused. all the books say they multiply your multiple choice score after deductions by .7563 but the highest score you can get on the exam is 150. which is not possible if you multiply by .7563 and if u get 100% on your essays. it would only be possible if it was multiplied by .9? can someone tell me.

^Those MC scores may be for 120 question tests. For 100 quetsion tests it’s usually .9.

If you calculate it without a curve, on the original 100-point scale, it’s very possible:

100 - 0 = 100
100 x 0.6 = 60 (MC score) (you multiply by .6 because MC counts for 60% of your score)
10 x 4 = 40 (FRQ score)
60+40=100=5

On the exam itself, the highest you can get is not 150. That number comes from the curve. When you give everybody a significant boost, the possible points boost too.

Anyways, Indianjatt is right. You also multiply your FRQ scores by 1.5.

100 x .9 = 90 (MC score)
10 x 4 = 40
40 x 1.5 = 60 (FRQ score)

90 + 60 = 150

It seems bio has one of the most lenient curves

Which prep book did you guys find helped the most? I’m taking the class next year.

Cliff’s, all the way. You can see my review of it as well as others’ in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/929234-ap-prep-book-reviews.html

I also second Cliffs wholeheartedly

what is the cutoff going to be for a 5 this year? any rough estimates?!

not too harsh i hope =

the animal that is the smallest has the highest metabolic rate per gram! also does anybody have any idea for wat the cutoff for a 5 is going to be? does anyone know how they get those cutoff numbers?!

Actually, I chose the only ectotherm out of the choices as the animal with the highest metabolic rate… not the smallest one. I didn’t know the answer off-hand, so I chose the answer that was the odd-one-out, and that happened to be the one ectotherm.

the endotherms do have the highest metabolic rate and therefore also remember the smallest one has the greatest metabolic rate per gram of its weight. so a mouse would have more than an elephant!

I knew I would miss that one…so I omitted it hahahaha

guys…you’re not allowed to speak about the multiple choice!

^I realized that, but it won’t let me edit or delete…I pm’d a moderator.

haha true! Idk what I was thinking when I replied lol
that was a MC question :stuck_out_tongue:
I didn’t say anything about it lol
just that I omitted it lmao

You’re both getting your scores invalidated!!! And you’re going to get sued for divulging forbidden information!!!

what? lol
yeah…well I’m not haha
because I didn’t do that

guys, they were just talking about questions they had in biology class that have nothing to do with the test!

Which one of the FRQs did you guys find to be the hardest? I had particular difficulty with #4…I’m almost positive I didn’t get any credit for part b, and at least I mentioned primary and secondary succession in part a…so I’m expecting only about two points for that part :(
