Biology a 2nd choice for the BME-rejected?

I was admitted ED. My first and only choice for a major has always been Biology. I am wondering, how much of the biology major is comprised of BME hopefuls who were rejected from the program but accepted to the university? I’ve heard horror stories from people at certain schools who selected popular “2nd choice” majors as their first choices.

Actually the most popular major for students not selected for BME is Chemical Engineering. The Biomolecular Engineering concentration in the ChemE department is quite similar to BME.

The next popular areas are also Bioengineering concentrations – Biomechanics in Mechanical Engineering and Biomaterials in Materials Science.

Biology is an area where some non-admitted BME students will go, but most of the Bio majors at Hopkins are first-choice Bio majors.

Thanks for the clarification.
