Biology and English

What are good colleges for a person who wants to pursue a Biology major and English minor? I know the top colleges, like Yale, Brown, Stanford, etc are a given, so please name some that aren’t in Ivy League, but are still really good colleges. However, please list colleges below the level of Duke Univeristy, maybe even University of Chicago.

UVA, Michigan, UNC, Vanderbilt.

Hopkins, though it’s arguably a peer of Duke and Chicago and if less selective than the two, not that much so.

Wisconsin, Washington and Boston University.

Bowdoin, Tufts, Holy Cross. Holy Cross has great science reputation and new science building. Holy Cross has nice campus and like the Ivies is need blind for financial aid.

1) Look up the US News rankings online.
2) Consider the top 50 or so.
3) Take out the tech schools like Georgia Tech and RPI.
4) There you go.

Seriously, do it. Asking this question is like asking “Which campuses have trees?” or “Which campuses have athletic facilities?” Biology and English are two of the most popular majors at nearly every college (along with psych, business, and education), and any reputable college will have strong departments in both.

Yes, there are too many colleges with really fine departments, so your question won’t help you get the information you need.

warble is correct, but if you want to go into further details, a good biology and english department at the graduate level sometimes translates to good at the undergraduate level.

look up the trop 25 graduate biology departments:

and then the top English graduate departments:

you can get non-ivies that fall in those two categories

easily standing out is UC Berkeley, by the way, #1 in English and #2 in Biology, yet a State School.

But if you’re interested in liberal arts colleges, JohnAdams12’s method won’t work.
