Biology/Environmental: how to compare the best state school vs private remote schoolss?

Applying to selective universities for biology/environmental science (double major, or major minor). All these schools are highly ranked, offer research opportunities, and several have associated research centers. Rather than grouping them in reach/match/safety categories because they are all reach, am trying to view then the three distinct buckets: 1. best 2. great and 3. Very good.

Berkeley / UCLA / Michigan / UVA / Cornell / Dartmouth / Stanford / Yale

Are all of these schools affordable? Do you have safety and target schools on your list?

You are asking a question to which there is no right or wrong answer. It depends on what is important to you.
