I will be applying next year and I would like to major in either molecular biology or genetics (havent decided yet). I just found out biology majors are required to take physics in most universities. Physics has always been my worst subject and I don’t even understand it properly at IGCSE level, let alone college level. What should I do? Bc i dont want this one subject to keep me from majoring in biology
Most colleges have a learning center where students can get help and possibly be matched with a tutor. There are also websites that have learning videos matched with the textbook. Sometimes the physics department has a list of possible tutors- grad students and students who have done well in physics. You would pay extra for a private tutor or website, but if this is what will impact your major, it is something to consider worth it.
Depending on the size of the college, the professor and possibly a TA will have office hours where you can ask questions, but these are not meant to replace tutoring as the prof is available to all students. Still, make use of this opportunity to get questions asked.
Many colleges have different level intro physics classes for majors/engineers and non-physics majors. If your major allows the non-physics major class, then take that. Also, do not wait and see what happens before getting a tutor. Do it from the beginning so you do not fall behind.
@Pennylane2011 Thanks for the advice
I will also probably get a tutor the summer before, so that I’m better prepared
You are welcome. Good luck to you!
