Hi, I am stuck. I am trying to decide what major I should major in… I was really interested in genetics, but however, a lot of colleges do not offer Genetics as a major… They offer Biochem or Molecular Biology instead. Also, I would consider myself a thinker and I have been thinking about majoring in physics. I am taking AP Physics 1 this year in school, and I took Honors Biology last year and got A both semesters… What do you think?
Thank you!
Fresno State caught my eye when I applied because they had a Biomedical Physics major. http://fresnostate.edu/catalog/subjects/physics/biomed-phy.html You can also apply to the Honors College.: http://www.fresnostate.edu/academics/honors/
Los Angeles State has a Biophysics concentration within Physics, if you interested in the school. As for the UCs, Los Angeles has Biophysics and Merced, Riverside, & San Diego all have Physics with a Biophysics concentration.
For Genetics, only UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, & UC Riverside all actually have a Genetics major or something similar.
As for the other question, as long as you are motivated, happy, and skilled in the subject, nothing can stop you from working in Genetics. Good luck!
