Biomedical Engineering at YALE

I want to major in biomedical engineering at Yale, so I just wanted to know more about it from a student’s point of view:

-What are the job opportunities
-Is it hard
-Is it a good major (vague, I know)
-How much work is involved

I cant really answer your question, but while I was there I talked to the head BME professor and some students who knew about the BME major.

Most said it was one of the “softer” engineering majors. That is, less intense, time consuming, and indepth. I may however still go the BME path for Med school, since it fulfills the same requirements.

i’ve never heard of anyone going to yale for engineering. period.

Two of my friends are BME majors. Like other engineering students, they have to take differential equations, and physics at least at the intermediate difficulty (180/181). I don’t remember many specifics about the major other than that. Engineering at Yale is generally characterized by small class sizes and a lot of individual attention. The BME department just got a brand new building, too. Construction just finished this year (I think it’s done, anyway), so I’m sure the lab space will be better (which will make it easier to attract faculty). Try looking on BME’s website for specific information about the major.
