Biomedical Engineering Jobs

My younger sister is interested in going into the Biomedical Engineering field for Undergraduate school. The schools she is considering are Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University, and Penn State University.

The field is interesting, but I don’t know of many job opportunities that exist for BME majors with BS degree. Can someone help us figure out the opportunities that exist and if this is a fruitful career or is it still in development?

Thank you

It is a burgeoning field. However, getting a more traditional engineering degree, such as chemical engineering, will give your sister access to a broader employment base. Chem E’s can specialize in process industries or have a biochemistry focus.

Berkeley’s Career Center has an excellent website for help in deciding majors and career opportunities:

My neighbor suggested to my son to do ug in biomedical, work for a few years and then go to law school, defend all the lawsuites that will come out of biomedical field in the future.
