I’m deciding which major to go with for pre-med at Cornell CALS. I like them both, but am unsure about my ability to get a good gpa in biometry and statistics, as there is a lot of R coding and math. However, if pre-med doesn’t work out, biostatistics has a way better job market. So i’m having trouble deciding whether to go with most likely higher gpa environmental and sustainability for pre-med, or go for a good backup major in pre-med + biometry and statistics but prolly get a lower gpa.
The good news is that Cornell is very flexible with major changes (unless you are trying to get into Dyson which doesn’t apply to you). Take a class in both of your area of interests in your freshman year along with your pre-med requirements and see what you like better. You should be able to change major as late as second semester sophomore year and still be on track to graduate on time so plenty of time to explore and figure out what works best for you!
