hi,
can you please give some tips to narrow down for an international student with following credentials, the college list please…
ACT - 32 composite - Superscore - 33
IB - Top percentile so far - in the 40s.
More on Science experiments, research, great in Art, community service more than 60 hours completed.
Teakwondo black belt, Indian origin, female.
so far thinking of UCSD,Purdue,Boston as safety schools, need help in Reach and FIT schools.
appreciate any suggestions.
You could read through here for a sampling of colleges that might be suitable:

Of schools not included in the above, I’d add URochester.
For statistical information for a range of colleges, these analyses might be useful:

What’s your budget?
Since international student…we are looking for any good school that is value for money knowing that we get little or no aid.
Thanks so much will go through.
Any idea about Emory WUSL and Brown chances
Many universities have financial aid for internationals and many also allow internationals to apply for merit aid.
However, if you have a budget, it’d be useful to know it.
For a student interested in science research, I’d focus on Honors Colleges at national universities (the best ones are Michigan LSA, Penn State Schreyer, USC Columbia Honors… perhaps Clemson Calhoun and UTD McDermott for science… list non exhaustive! ) and on top LACs (Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, Williams, Bowdoin, Pomona… = all reaches), plus URochester, Rice, for “fit” schools.
we can afford 50-55K a year, from all the above we need more FIT schools and safety schools.
the List identified are :
UC Berkley
Brown
U chicago
John Hopkins
Washington University St Louis
Emory
Case Western
UC Santa Barbara
UC Sandiego
Purdue
Please comment
Among your more accessible choices, UCSD and Emory might be the strongest for bio. For other top options, you could look into some LACs, such as those in the NESCAC.
@VEADD2022, Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, Williams, Bowdoin, Pomona are excellent choices.
Others LACs to considerare are Mount Holyoke and Smith. Bryn Mawr, Smith and Mount Holyoke offer merit aid to and have a large contingency of international students.
Amherst is need-blind for international students and will soon have a new state-of the-art science facility.

Adding to #5, the University of Washington is an excellent choice for students interested in the biological sciences and research:

May be a good fit for you, and if you apply, you should consider the Honors Program:

Good luck!

Are you planning to apply US med schools as an international?
You are going to waste your money and time if that is the intent.
What is your focus in the biosciences? That can make a huge difference in your list. Think about your specific major, and then check for some possible options here: https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/ Under “More Search Options”, set the tuition and fees at a max of 35k (so that you have 15k or so for housing, food, transportation, etc.), and your state as “other”.
If you don’t need any aid at all, you have a fair number of pretty likely schools, but since you are an international applicant you can’t consider any place safe.
artloversplus is on point about US med schools. If med school is your goal, do that in your own country, and come to the US for advanced studies later.
No not for medical at all. Thanks.
