We have a detached garage with a side door that opens to an openside shed and our back yard. Robins have built a nest under the roof of the shed, and the babies are about a week old.
My H goes into the garage every morning before he goes to work at 5. At the same time one of the robins flies in and out again. ( they did this before the nest as well)
Never has gotten stuck, just swoops around the perimeter.
Not sure which one it is or what it is doing. Saying hello,or checking for predators?

“fun” nesting sites.

I’m no bird expert, but I’d imagine this bird is making sure your hubby isn’t going after the babies. Protecting the nest is a huge deal.

Robins are incredibly protective parents - both the mother and father raise the young. The mother is usually very aggressive, nearly to the point of risking her own life to protect against a perceived threat. She’s clearly warning your husband to stay away from her nest because she considers him to be a threat. We just had a nest of robins near our pool - they made a big mess - you may notice the amount of droppings increase as the babies grow. The mother was so aggressive that I couldn’t do my normal weeding under the tree the nest was in. I was surprised, too, at how quickly the babies grew and flew away - it seemed to be only a few weeks.

The funny thing is they only come in the morning.
When he gets home from work he is in & out of the garage till he goes to bed ( it’s his man cave) and they don’t even make a noise.
The male robin however has been using the worms & berries that I place on a big rock in our yard to give to the female robin.

Another funny thing is when I came home the other day, there was an egg shell broken), next to the driveway in the front yard. Because H & I had been disagreeing over what color "robins egg blue " was, I picked it up and set it on the sawhorse outside the garage door to show him when he got home.
But when he got home, it wasn’t there. He thought that the momma bird had taken it away from the nest in case any predators had any ideas & when I brought it back she had to get rid of it again. :o
The birds are so cute but hungry, they just sit with their mouths open all day long. Hence the helping them to find food.

They are fun to watch - I also noticed that they were more active in the morning.
