Birnkrant vs North w/sink ... DEBATE!

I’ve read a few threads about Birnkrant and North, and I’ve decided Birnkrant, but I’m still having doubts. This thread is to debate between Birnkrant and North’s rooms with sinks! Go!

I’ll start…
Birnkrant has smaller rooms, less closet space (or from what I’m assuming from the virtual tour in the website). However, it has a study and workout room, a lounge and pool table. The Trojan Grounds is also located conveniently on the first floor.

Some of North’s rooms have sinks, have more closet space (again assuming from pictures), and are a bit larger than Birnkrant rooms. However, rumor has it that North is noisy and a party hall (someone know if these have caused any problems/annoyances?). It seems possibly more social as well. It also has the business floor.

Now… to you current trojans and incoming trojans… which do you think is better… and which has the better activities/events? DEBATE!

Our son was in Birnkrant, and absolutely loved it. Made lots of friends, had plenty of social activities, but also good academic support. They (Birnkrant and North) are both close to Leavey Library (which can be useful for research papers, etc.). Our son did enjoy the close proximity to TroGro (as they called it). He learned to drink coffee during those late night studies, papers, mid-terms, and finals. He introduced me to the sushi that TroGro has, and it was quite good. We went up to his floor, and ate in the “fishbowl” room (which is the study room directly off the elevator). From his room, you can see the “Hollywood” sign. They did use the TV room/lounge to watch away SC games (and occasional other TV shows). They also enjoyed the pool table, and ping pong table. If you play a musical instrument, they have a insulated “practice room”. Lastly, they have a Prof that lives in the first floor, who has group dinners, and group activities. Our son indicated that the Prof is very cool, and is easy to relate to, so many students in the dorm participated in the scheduled events. He did not spend much time in North, since he had such a large group of close friends from Birnkrant. You will surely be happy in either hall.

p.s. You may not receive a lot of respones in the next couple of days, since the school year is over, and yesterday was the last day of finals, and the last day to move out of the dorms.

My daughter was in Birnkrant and loved it! A great dorm!

I lived in Birnkrant and loved it so much that I’m living there again next year! I think the atmosphere fit really well with me; it has the “social” scene that New/North is known for, but it is academic as well. People can actually study in Birnkrant… in the fishbowls, on the second floor study rooms, etc, and if those are full, Leavey is literally 10 seconds away. Birnkrant has some amazing people who know how to both study and have some fun. TroGro is right under Birnkrant, so it is easy to just walk a few steps from your room and get some coffee. I absolutely loved my experience at Birnkrant, and I can’t think of any other former Birnkrant resident I know who hasn’t had a great time living there. Anyway, good luck!
