Is it normal to go to a restaurant with friends and split the bill between each other for one’s birthday and give a gift to the birthday person?

I dont think so cuz for all the birthday dinner parties i have been to, the host paid for everyone and in return everyone gave that person a gift so its best that the host takes care of the bill

Thats what I thought? We had a birthday dinner last year and the host didn’t even spend a dime and he got gifts and the dinner paid for…
The same host is having a birthday dinner again today so I plan on not attending.

wow thats messed up but so long as the person isnt a close friend or anything then it would be a good idea to not go.

Typically, when you invite someone out, you either split the bill or pay it all. You don’t have them pay for you…

But do I have to give a gift after that too?

Usually if the host pays, a rule of thumb is to give a gift thats at least worth the cost of the meal. If you split the bill, just bring a small gift.
