Hi,parents. Can some one advice me what to give for present to a girls who are turning 18 and having ‘black and white’ party at a club.SUPERVISED.

jJewelry is always nice and can be purchased at different price points.

iTunes gift cards are very popular as well.

I would give her a strand of pearls or pearl earrings to wear that night which would tie in great to the black and white theme

I’ve had good luck buying pearls from this site: http://www.pearlsonly.com/

What is a “black and white” party? One with NY cookies? :)

WOW, someone else knows black and whites, you must be from the Metro area…everytime we go back to NJ, our first stop is at the bakery to get black and whites, nothing in the world like them.

I would believe that a black and white party is everyone wears either black or white, no other color…at least that has always been the ones I have attended

Is she getting her dress from the store Black and White (yes, there is a store named black and white)

This was the original black and white party: [Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball](http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/the-inside-story-of-truman-capotes-masked-ball-475551.html?service=Print)

Lots of theme parties around here…some I just find strange! B&W, GI Joes and Army H…s(I won’t put the irritating rhyming name here), Lingerie, etc.

Is this gift coming from a boy or a girl- that makes a difference—jewelry from a boy, well, but from a girl its a whole different thing

Or is the gift from the family, a parent, etc

Who is giving the gift matters

Booklady, thanks for the link; so THAT’S the party I missed!
I love the line about K. Graham dancing with the doorman.

bulletandpima, I have to confess that I don’t really like black and whites, though were I to host a black and white party, would certainly want to have them there!

Some jewelry in black onyx would be nice for that party…

On another note - LOVE those cookies, but they are called Half Moons in this part of NY…if we are talking the same cookie

I am a boy in high school and we are just bunch of friends. My mom thinks gift card from victoria’s. And they have sweatshirts girls like to wear not just you know

Thanks a lot. And yes party is tonite. what do you expect from a high schooler.

Hm, gift card to Victoria’s (and they have sweatshirts, too) has that edge…
but don’t you think it’s kind of rude?

Maybe classier is to take the same money and head over to the mall’s nicest large department store so she can choose from a wider range of items!

A gift card from Sephora (if there’s one near you) is always a hit with the girls.

many malls have “generic” cards- that are good for all the stores int he mall

my D LOVES getting those cards!!!

and as a teen, she might think its weird getting a VS card froma bunch of guys…

can’t go wrong with Macy’s or the like either

but I suggest the card that covers allthe stores, if you are going the gift card rout

If you mean Victoria’s Secret - my 19 year daughter would be quite mortified and horrified to get a gift card from there from a boy - and doubly so when given to her in front of other people. (of course she is the one who went into another store and begged for a bag to put her VS purchases in because she did not want to walk round the mall carrying the ubiquitous pink bag that shouted underwear). Seriously - no - i think that would be inappropriate and a little creepy.

I agree gift certificate from elsewhere, departments store, itunes, book store if she likes books, bath and body works, starbucks if she likes coffee. Lots of choices. When I get a gift certificate i often like to buy a small item and put the gift certificate in it- like say for starbucks - a nice little coffee mug with the certificate in it in a nice gift bag ot bed bath and beyond a small item from there along with the gift cert.

OK my parents grew up in Upstate NY and the B&W or Half moon cookies (where the cookie is black NOT white) are to die for. When family comes to Florida, they bring a dozen, if by car several dozen. They are always laid out in a box size by side. Each one is HUGE. From Hemstrought’s(sp??).
