birthday treats

Your advice, please? Daughter is away at college and will be celebrating her birthday next week. I want to send her some treats by mail…cookies or cupcakes or such. Any suggestions on where I should order from? Anywhere that you especially like that ships?

Thanks!

I’ve sent homemade cookies without issues. Can’t recommend store bought options.

Is she at a college that someone here might know the area/city? They may be able to make a recommendation for a local bakery.

But I do second the idea of homemade cookies!

I had success with sending homemade cupcakes. I bought 2 cupcake tins, baked cupcakes in one and placed the second tin inverted over the top. Sent frosting and sprinkles and candles for self and friend decorating.

(Previously had tried the same deal with a 9x13 cake - disaster, put heard that it was still fun gluing it back together with frosting)

Check with dining services at her college, sometimes they have an easy delivery or you can google for bakeries that delivery birthday cakes in her neighborhood.

I made one of those huge cookies that is pizza sized. Wrote the birthday greeting on it. Used two disposble pizza pans to 'wrap" it and protect it. Mailed it in one of the post office boxes. Tucked silly little things around it. It went over really well.

Costco delivers cakes and fruit baskets. I’ve sent D chcolate-dipped strawberries for Valentine’s Day, and she gave them a thumbs-up!

My parents have been sending me flowers every year…it’s so nice, and no one else ever gets them.

As far as “treats”…cupcakes are always good, or cookies, and they’re probably much easier to ship.

You could also do a bucket of her favorite types of candy.

We just sent these to our D on the recommendation of another CCer. They were packed nicely and individually wrapped, which made them easy to hand out to friends and she said everyone liked them! They even have a birthday box where you can add personalized tags on each treat if you like.
