I am looking for something to quickly sweep up dog hair from a linoleum floor. My dog has given up sleeping on her dog bed, and her hair is all over now (I think it was sticking to the bed, and going into my washing machine before :)). But I now find her area needs almost daily sweeping, vs. weekly before. Anyway… I noticed these push sweepers in the hardware store the other day, and felt like I would use it more often if it would pick up the hair in her area. No dustpan, just sweep and empty.

Question is… do they work? Will it pick up pet hair and dirt off a linoleum floor? Any brands besides Bissell that people have experience with?

I have a Bissell sweeper which I got after an injury left me incapable of pushing a vacuum clearner. I use it on my carpets and it is amazing - so lightweight yet picks up as much as the vacuum, I’m convinced. Pulling out the hairs is a matter of seconds - it comes with a little comb thing but I actually use my dog’s steel comb and a seam ripper. Really, not as bad as it sounds - takes seconds! But I don’t use it on the wood floors - I stick with dustpan and brush on those. So I don’t know how it would work on your linoleum. The sweeper is so cheap though (about £10 here) that it might be worth just buying one and trying it out…

I’m guessing yours is of higher quality than mine, samuck. =p

I mostly use mine in the kitchen since it does a great job of picking up little crumbs and whatnot my bigger vacuum has a hard time with. It’s also nice since it runs on a battery I can grab it and vacuum my entire (tiny) kitchen in the time I’m making some toast.

When people ask us our new dog’s breed, we say 'she’s a Constant Shedder"…which she is. We also have hardwood floors so piles and tufts of white fur show up really clearly. We decided to get a Swiffer Vac. It’s got the Swiffer cloth on the front to catch the sand and a vacuum to suck up the hair. It works really well. The hair goes into a cup which is easily emptied though you sometimes have to pick the filter clean. Only takes a second. There are no bristles which aren’t really needed on a smooth floor.

It’s rechargeable. My husband now wants one for each level.

I noticed one day that they were using a Shark at Panera. Gotta wonder if that can pick up all the debris on their floors whether it might not work for the OP.
