I’m a bird photographer, particularly hummingbirds, and I kept hearing about this hummingbird feeder clearance at Lowes from my hummingbird forum members. A really nice looking glass hummingbird feeder with hand-painted sunflower, they say, is selling at clearance price of $5. Although I already have 4 hummingbird feeders, 3 of them DIY, the photo the members posted looked really nice and the price too good to pass up. So off I went to my local Lowes today, hoping that they’d still have some left. Well, to my surprise, not only did they have 5 left, but the price was reduced even further down to $2.48 each. I bought them all, 2 for myself and the rest as X-Mas presents to some of my friends.
Not a Black Friday sale item, but I thought I’d alert for anyone who’s interested in hummingbird feeders.
In response to coolers, I purchased a yeti, yeti knockoff and we have a stainless Coleman cooler. I put identical frozen jugs of water and put them in the garage during 95 degree weather. Yeti and knockoff did not perform any better than our Coleman. We did find that a full cooler worked best especially if there were large chunks of ice (water frozen in juice or milk jugs.)
Care to link it, @TiggerDad ? I’d really appreciate it! Our Annas are fighting over the three feeders we have out for them. I am sure we can use a few more.
Thanks! It is really cute. Today, some chickadees decided to fight with the Annas over the feeders only to discover that there was nothing interesting for them in those feeders. Lol.
That’s funny. You’re lucky to live in an area with year-round hummer activities.
I went to Lowes again this morning (at another location) because someone in my hummingbird forum alerted me to another clearance item, a glass hummingbird led solar light stake for something like $7.49. When I went to the shelves, however, they were all gone. I didn’t come out of the store empty handed, though. They had just one left of the aforementioned hand-painted glass hummingbird feeder. It was priced higher, so I asked them to price-match the other store, which they did. I now have 6 of these. It’s too bad that I have to wait until next May to hang these. At least they’re so cute and colorful that I’ll probably hang them somewhere inside the house by the windows. I love hummingbirds!
Last year I researched air fryers and decided to wait. Here’s why I decided against getting one:
There are fresh things you can make in them (like crispy roasted veggies), but the primary use for them appears to be heating frozen foods, french fries and pizza - which we don't eat much of.
Although they're fairly large, the amount you can cook in one is small. I'm normally cooking for 3-4 people.
They're huge, take up a lot of counter space but have relatively small cooking space. To get something that would roast a chicken requires about the same counter space as a microwave. I have a small kitchen so if something is going to take up that much space it better be worth it. Again, we don't eat much frozen food, french fries or pizza, so I didn't think it merited that space.
I do use my multicooker pressure function 3-5 times a week (beans, quinoa, stock, steamed veggies) and saw that they're coming out with multicookers that also air fry. Since that would combine appliances and save space, I decided to wait for one of those.
Thanks for the info. The person who asked for it is a very healthy cook…doesn’t really sound like something they would use. Maybe an instant pot would be more useful.
Update on my Wusthof Classic Ikon knife quest 2019
Thank you so so much @veryhappy for the heads up on the Wusthof outlet!!! Yes, they do take phone orders and they have flat rate shipping for $5. Their prices are AMAZING! For example Bed Bad and Beyond, Sur La Table and Williams Sonoma all have the same sale prices, but the outlet has them $90 off of each knife!
Ikon 8 inch bread knife $139.99 - Outlet price $49.00
Ikon 8 inch chef/cooks knife $169.00 - Outlet price $79.00
Ikon 6 in chef/cooks knife $149.99 - Outlet price $59.99
I spoke with Debra at the outlet and she was incredibly nice and helpful and even offered to give me her email address to give me pricing for a long list so I wouldn’t have to stay on hold while she she looked through the inventory around the store!
Unfortunately it’s a true outlet and they just have whatever the factory sends them and they didn’t have everything I was looking for, BUT Bed Bath and Beyond has the other knives and is having a great Cyber Monday sale! Order $300 of anything except gift cards and get $100 in “My Funds” - store credit that can be used for anything except gift cards (must be used within 30 day of the date the order ships). When I placed my BB&B knife order I was about a $1 under the $300 mark so I added some Bamboo tongs for the toaster for $1.49 (after 20% discount)
This promo is great because it also includes sale items including their KitchenAid appliances sale and combines with their 20% off coupons and free shiooing. I have a some up coming weddings so if I can do this deal more than once (which it appear I can long as they are separate orders) I’m going to get 2 Blenders:-)
KitchenAid K400 Blender with Tamper BB&B regular price $259.99, sale price $189.99, with 20% off $151.99 x 2 =303.98 earn $100 My Funds for future purchase.
