Black Friday Shopping anyone???

I went to Ann Taylor Loft (not in the mall) because I had a 20% off thing that expires 11/30. I also went to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Neither place was a problem. Lots of stuff on sale at Dick’s.

I didn’t go into “the City” until about 2 pm.

I went to Daffy’s…which was sort of silly because it always has great discounts and it doesn’t really offer many special deals for “Black Friday.” Picked up two coats for a TOTAL of $40 for my contribution to various homeless shelters/hospital gift drives.

Hit a sale at Ann Taylor–40% off. Not many people there. Found a blouse on sale. It started at $90. 40% off sale price brought it don to about $35…which is what I think it’s worth.

Went to Staples to get a deal-- $5 for 100 blank CDs. Noticed that Cameraland was giving 50% off all frames and photo albums. Bought a photo album (originally $20), and three frames for about $23, including tax. That was the most crowded store I visited, and the sale continues until tomorrow. I may go back. Kid got married this summer and I need a gazillion picture frames. I especially like getting a bargain on “diploma” frames–the kind used for hanging pictures on the wall.

Stopped at Barnes & Noble–no real deals. Got to see the “nook;” it looks a lot like a Kindle.

Came home.

Went to our mall…got some great deals at American Eagle on their before noon sales, got a great buy on a Juicy purse marked down from $498 to $89 at Nordstrom, got some deals on BluRays at Borders. The purse was definitely the buy of the day.

Went out to lunch with mom and best friend around 1. Stopped by an upscale mall not too far away to scope out the sales at Banana Republic and JCrew. Banana has buy one get one free cashmere sweaters and scarves, which were cool but I don’t need any. Other than that, we went to a few boutiques. I got a really cute red clutch on sale for half off, so I’m looking for somewhere to wear it tonight!

I’m spending the rest of the afternoon compiling a bunch of old family photos so I can make copies of them tomorrow and take them back to school with me. I’m kind of a photo junkie so realizing that I don’t have any printed photos of my family was really sad! Glad I get to fix it. And go frame shopping.

I just can’t stand the getting up early business. My idea is to open the stores at midnight - I’d just assume stay up late, head out at midnight and come home by 4am and sleep till 11am - and still have my day pretty much intact. :)

We went to Kohl’s around 10:00. The lines were SO long but moved pretty quickly.
S2 needed some jeans before heading back to college on Sunday. DH bought something he has wanted for years, a turntable for albums that connects to the computer and downloads the songs which can then be burned onto CD’s or downloaded to Ipods. He has a big album collection mostly from the late 70’s.
We also went to Wolf Camera, no big lines in the camera store, then stopped by Home Depot which was surprisingly empty.

Son is working during holiday season so I took him to work at 4AM. There were already lots of cars at the Kohls and about 30 people in line at the Staples. More traffic than you would expect at that time of the morning. I did not shop though I was tempted to go for a laptop or pad at a bargain price. Haven’t done enough research to know what’s what, and decided not to buy till then.

Well daughter and I went to Old Navy around 5:30 PM this eve, no trafffic, no big lines and still plenty of stock. Big sale and I had a 30 dollar coupon as well and they even discounted more at the register. We saved 126.00 on a 240.00 purchase. A beautiful long sweatercoat was marked down from 49.99 to 11.46. We really felt like we got some very good deals. If I was prepared to spend more money I would have. This was my first black friday experience. I swore I would never shop on this day because I hate crowds and the aggravation. But I think shopping later in the day was more adventagious price wise. Seems like they dropped the prices down more at the register as the day progressed.

ThinkGeek.com is offering $10 off any purchase of $30 or more until midnight tonight. Surely you know someone who needs a titanium spork, caffeine soap, or a USB snowman! ;)

^^^ you have the best tips, owlice! I went to the site, adn the first thing that caught my eye was the solar powered battery recharger for things like iphones. I would get one for my s, but he already has one

I took D1 to Steve Madden and received a 40% discount on our bill. D1 got some boots that already had a 40% discount so she only paid 36% of the original price. Ann Taylor was somewhat busy but we did not buy anything there.

Hiya, jym! But does he have a hoodie with “Meh” on the front of it? :)

I got the spork, the soap, a book, and with my Geek Points, buckeyball magnets. Those might end up in my stocking; I’ll have to see how generous I’m feeling!!

^^^ LOL, owlice! I gotta go back and do some shoppin!

I’m back from the mall, and I’m not going back!!! Do I need Sevens @ 25% off at Macy’s? Nope, I can get them at 50% off at the Rack. Both Cache and Nordstrom have better selection of stuff online than they have in their stores. As DD put it when we were trying to get out of the mall, “I feel like a salmon trying to swim up river.”

Now, if someone could explain to me why this hot item sold out for $70 at Saks, I’d really appreciate it, because I’m totally clueless how this kind of kitsch can even sell for 5 bucks…

Geez Louise, BB, is that ugly!! Doesn’t qualify for kitsch, even. Ugh!! I may have nightmares from seeing that thing!

^That bag is hideous.

I couldn’t stop laughing when I clicked on that link. Heck I am still laughing. Maybe the bag is meant to scare away cats, or the other shoppers in the stores??

Owlice, loved the coupon tip for thinkgeek. I got my $10 off just now ~ got the Bucky Balls and also the Acrobots. The customer photos for the Acrobots were hilarious ~ they look like so much fun :D

Where is the link for the coupon, guys?

No coupon; just enter CERN for the promotion code at checkout. Good until midnight, but in which time zone, I don’t know.
