@musicprnt I like http://camelcamelcamel.com for tracking price history.
Shopping all done. We were very successful. BB&B didn’t have a small enough micro to fit on the shelf in S’s apt so we went to Target - which had several to choose from. I also got him a big supply of vacuum clearer bags to go with my old vacuum which he is taking back with him. Had no trouble finding a parking space - but the traffic around those malls was pretty heavy. Then we headed to Home Goods, which was very crowded. Found a very nice rug for guest room, a gravy boat (H wanted that,) some bamboo cooking spoons (H broke one yesterday trying to get giblets out of turkey cavity,) a pretty picture frame I’m bringing to my mom with picture of the three of us from S’s graduation last May. S picked out a very nice wooden salad bowl and salad tongs, plus a ladle. We treated him to those, too.
Just relaxing now before heading out later to our new favorite local restaurant. All in all a very good day.
Dragged husband out for small business Saturday tradition. Temecula Olive Oil for his sister in PA.
This video shows a lady stealing a package right out of a kid’s arms, but I’ve read that apparently it is a fake?
No shopping here for me…unless you count buying cheese and gasoline at BJs shopping!
There was an article in our local paper here…basically said that prices two weeks ago were less than they are now. And also that ther will be plenty of electronics left…and heavily discounted…after Christmas. We need none of that anyway.
Today we went out to a local new restaurant for lunch and it was fabulous!
Yeah, I don’t understand that type of BF shopping. Even if that video is fake (not sure), things like that do happen.
There is nothing I’d fight over, but I’m happy with my half off jeans.
And the Bath & Body Works deals are amazing for someone that is obsessed with that store. I got something like 8 candles, 5 lotions, soap, and some other trinkets that’ll last me the whole year for less than $100. Definitely worth.
I LOVE Black Friday!
I left the house at about 2:45 am, and was at Kohls 15minutes later. The store was empty-- I got the 2nd parking spot in. It was me an a bunch of other moms in the store, with the Christmas music playing.
From there, it was Ulta, Walmart, Sears, and the mall.
First Target, then to Panera for breakfast. Then, let’s see: Victoria’s Secret (for Pink stuf), Bath and Body Works, Disney, Hollister, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Journey, maybe a few more.
Then to Michael’s, Sport Authority, and Bed Bath and Beyond.
I got home at about noon, tired but happy. I did the outside decorations (well, actually I directed and held the ladder for my son-- it rained today and is supposed to get COLD tomorrow) and was pretty much out cold by 8 pm.
I get such a kick out of Black Friday. I tend to time it so I have the stores to myself-- I seriously did not wait more than 3 minutes on any line all day. And in the course of 9 hours I went from “shopping barely started” to “in really good shape for Christmas.”
Wow. Bjkmom takes the 1st place prize in the BF shopping race.
It’s so funny, but I don’t think of it as a race at all. We’re trying to get the credit cards down, so I haven’t done anything online at all. But I come from a LARGE family, so there are lots of gifts to be gotten before Christmas Eve.
And I love the Christmas music, the decorations, the air of excitement in the stores on Black Friday. I don’t fight other people for a $3 TV, I’m buying things that I would have bought anyway. But I do love doing it on Black Friday in the middle of the night
All online here! (And just for me, sadly). I just didn’t see ads for any gifts that motivated me!
@bjkmom, I’m tired just reading all that. I ventured to the mall about 7 last night. Didn’t need a thing, but picked up some lotions at Body Works, and some bath stuff stocking stuffers at Nordstrom. I ordered a fair amount from Gap and Express before Black Friday. I only got 40 and not 50% off, but I’m good with that. We are cutting way back on gifts this year and doing a family trip. BUT, I kind of have a habit of getting “done” early, and then rushing to the mall right before Christmas to get even more. I’m trying hard to show restraint this year.
I am trying to shop at our small local stores. Today was small business Saturday and many of them had some specials. It’s so nice to find unique things that you can’t get in a mall.
I don’t really have a lot of shopping to do. The kids don’t have a lots of wants, although I’m sure gift cards or cash will be accepted
DH and I just cleaned out both our parents houses so we definitely do not want any more “stuff”! Looking for experienced or consumables to give.
We always adopt a family for Christmas, so I enjoy going out on BF to see if I can find any deals. I don’t do the pre-dawn sales though. I go out after breakfast and make a relaxing day of it.
I like shopping for my family on Small Business Saturday, but was disappointed that there were so many not made in America products this year. I’m afraid I didn’t get very far down my list. But we do have several craft fairs coming up where I can count on getting great wares by local artisans. And we have several local businesses and farmers’ markets that I depend on too.
I didn’t step out of the house Thursday or Friday. Parking was not bad at 10am on a Saturday morning but as we left it started to get crowded. This morning I went to lord and taylor and they were distributing coupons for $20 of a $40 purchase. This included cosmetics so I got some good deals at the Clinique and Clarins counter. On Wednesday I got some cosmetic deal busters at Macy’s where I got a $50 perfume giftset for $15 and some other one for $10. That’s it. It didn’t see any great deals and am hoping as we get closer to Christmas the deals get better. So in all I spent less than $100.
We did some small business Saturday stops today - mostly just for fun! A couple of resale/antique shops, a local coffee shop for a refreshment break and a beautiful paper/stationary shop. Then a quick stop at TJ Maxx where each daughter plopped a purse in my cart that I agreed to wrap as one of their gifts. Oh, and one stop at an estate sale where I picked up a cool wood and metal stool, perfectly aged!!!
Went to Costco to replenish our supplies of eggs and fruit. Did not buy a single non-food thing except batteries! Oh, and made Mr. fill up the car, because I don’t want to drive by Costco on a weeknight just to get gas.
Tomorrow kiddo and I are going to the mall because she made an appointment for a haircut.
We took advantage of the online sales to buy our son things for college. We bought him the towels he really liked which he’d seen at the localTarget and were on sale online. For the family, a back up programmable coffee maker with automatic shut off as ours never last more than a year no matter the brand or price. We also bought our son a pair of Doctor Who pj pants, an Attack on Titans t-shirt, a Code Geass t-shirt, and a Piccachu wearing a suit, glasses, and holding a briefcase. The latter he found and couldn’t be more perfect for his future-lawyer self. The clothes are to keep him in his wonderful geeky style. I wish we could have bought him a few pullovers and dress shirts as Lands End was having a 40-50% off sale, but he’s likely to go through 1-2 more growth spurts, so I had to sigh and stare longingly at the website instead. LOL! Still, we’re getting what we can during the sales, little by little. Next on the list is a new shaver for him by Christmas.
Not a Black Friday sale, but 2 weeks ago I found a set of gray Twin XL sheets at Target on clearance and the perfect set of blue Christmas lights for his dorm room. One set of sheets down, two more to go.
Forgot to add that we also paid for the CSS Profile and two more college applications. Not presents, just more of the college application and testing fees that are preventing us from having much of a Christmas this year.
Why can’t there be Back to College sales around the time our kids are getting or waiting for their ED and RD acceptance letters? Helping my son shop for college, making up lists, and seeing what we have at home makes the waiting a little more bearable.
Am making gifts for folks, supplies for which I’ve purchased from various local (and regional) quilt shops. Got DH some twill and flannel shirts. Have no desire to go out and deal with the crowds anywhere. I did make progress on clearing out the basement storage room today. S1 is in town and moved his boxes around so I can arrange our camping gear more efficiently.
Snowblower. That’s all I’ll order. I read a bunch of winter forecasts and no one knows yet how much snow will hit the northeast. Seems there’s an El Nino, but they don’t know how it will develop here by Feb or so. But the prices seem to have dropped since I started looking. Sometime in the next day, I’ll decide which one. Yeah, also watched youtube videos of the models I like and there’s something not fun about looking at all that snow again.
Got tons of Black Friday emails which extended into Saturday. This morning I am getting “Cyber Monday starts today”.
So I guess it’s really a 4 day sale
