Black Male Celebrities

Why is it that when black male celebrities become successful, they must (or more likely to) marry a non-black woman? Is a black woman not good enough for them? Are these non-black women by their side status symbols?

you might well ask why is it, that often successful men of any race have “trophy wives”?
I know several couples who divorced and the man remarried a woman practically the spitting image of their first wife, just 15 or 20 years younger. ;)

But I can think of a lot of AA couples, Denzel & Pauletta Washington , Will and Jada Smith … August Wilsons wife wasn’t white and neither is Gwen Knight widow of Jacob Lawrence.
Shouldn’t we be celebrating that interracial marriage is more accepted? Less than 40 years ago it was banned in many states.
I certainly am not for dictating who someone should marry as long as they are of age, and not incapaciated and unable to make decisions for themselves.
We have many “mixed” couples in our group of friends, yes white women married to black men, but also asian men married to white women, white men married to asian women, and black women married to asian men.

there certainly are a lot of dating options out there!

For me it is all about personal preference. When a black guy becomes a successful celebrity, I don’t think he makes the decision that he needs a non-black partner. He may have already had a certain preference before he became a celebrity.

i havent noticed that…

my first thought - will and jada smith are married (will is kinda hot lol and i think Jada is sooo pretty)

i agree with Justinmeche

I would not limit your observation to black male celebrities. I think many many african american males would prefer to date white women. I have no idea why this is the case. If “what’s up front that counts” is true, it would seem that african american women would have the edge, but it simply is not the case. An interesting question would be are hispanic, asian, and arabic males as attracted to white women to the same degree as are african american males? I don’t know the answer to this one either.

I would add that being a college educated african american female may not be as desirable as it should be. There are approximately 200 educated african american females for every 100 educated african american males.

How about letting people choose who they want to live the rest of their lives with and be happy? Come on people, it doesnt concern you. It’s their decision. You have no right to judge them because you do not know the circumstances/situation.

Am I the only one who has never seen a black woman/Asian man couple…

As for me, I’m definitely not stressing over the fact that SOME black men prefer white women over black women. There’s plenty enough to go around :).

WAAA. Creepy.
really? Never seen that. That’s cool!
