black sorority?

Not to be racist but did I just get invited to a black sorority? (I’m not black, not even half) Zeta Phi Beta… I got an e-mail and it said by invite only can you be a member. I was looking at the site and well ummm… the only pictures of anyone is black women… So I’m sort of like what? If anyone is in this sorority can you clue me in?

Thanks.

Yeah that is Zeta Phi Beta is a historically black sorority. It must be some sort of mistake. Did the email actually INVITE you or did it notify you that it is an invite only sorority. Either way, just ignore it because it doesn’t really apply to you.

ignore it. race-related sororities (and fraternities) are doomed to failure anyway

You are an extraordinary student, and through your hard work, you have met the qualifications to attend ************* University!! There will be many organizations for you to get involved in on campus. We encourage you to get involved because it helps you to have a more enriched college experience.
With that in mind, we would like to invite you to look at Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. We will hold our first informational meeting this fall on Monday, September 10, 2012 (time to be announced). We are extremely excited for you to discover the personality and face behind this email, and to meet you! Thank you for your time, and may your time at Tarleton State be better than you ever imagined!

Sincerely,
Sigma Omicron Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

total mistake, hahaha

It could be that they are trying to be more racially diverse. There was a historically Asian sorority that tried to do that at my U freshmen year. They wanted to be more inclusive so they invited a LOT of people.

If you’re not comfortable with it though, ignore it. No harm, no foul.
