Blatant Discrimination in College Admissions

<p>Basically, it says that being Black confers a 310 SAT score boost, Hispanic a 130 point boost, and Asian, a 140 point deduction compared to Whites. Keep in mind that this is using the old 1600 point system, so adjusted for the 2400 point scale,</p>

Hispanic- +173.3
Asian- -210</p>

<p>I agree with many of the points that he makes. It seems to me as if colleges simply use these discriminatory practices to keep their spot at the top of US News rankings.</p>

<p>The problem with your argument is that the US Supreme Ct has already held that using race as a factor in admissions does not violate the Constitutional prohibition against discrimination on racial grounds.</p>

<p>If you want to make a case, you will have to successfully refute the argument that there is value in a racially diverse educational environment.</p>

<p>Which USNews criterion are you talking about?</p>

<p>Diversity admissions hurt a school’s ranking, they don’t help it. Student selectivity, as measured by test scores and class rank, counts for 15% of a school’s rank. Racial diversity counts for 0%.</p>
