blinn team

so i just got my blinn team letter
and i have a few questions

the new student conference is at a&m, so do they chedule classes at blinn or do i have another conference at blinn?

i sent a financial aid application to texas a&m, so do i get aid for blinn with that or do i have to send one to blinn and fill out their paper work?

when’s the best time to look for an apartment and which is the best one to live at?

I’m not sure about most of those questions, but they are good things to contact an A&M admissions officer or counselor about. I could offer an educated guess, but it wouldn’t be entirely accurate.

In regards to the apartments, the best time to look for one was a month or two ago. So get to it ASAP as many are already full for this next year. Apartmentfinder.com is a good place to start.

The way scheduling worked for my daughter on Blinn TEAM last year, we went first to a Blinn advising day session on the Blinn Campus. She spoke first with a Blinn counselor who described the types of core curriculum courses she needed to take depending on whether you were planning on a BA or BS degree. Then we waited a while and spoke with an A&M counselor who recommended which classes she take at TAMU and actually scheduled her for them.

Later she went to the TAMU new student conference, which was the one for Blinn TEAM students. She attended all of the orientation sessions on the first day but didn’t have to attend the counseling sessions on the second day since her classes had already been scheduled when she was at Blinn. While in College Station, we also dropped in at Blinn long enough to pay her fees for the fall.

Later, she scheduled her classes at Blinn using the online system (I think it’s called BORIS) when it opened for incoming freshmen. That was quite an experience because the system crashed about 20 minutes after it opened for registration. I do suggest laying out your schedule in advance so you can enter it into BORIS with a minimum of effort rather than trying to figure it out at the same time as everyone else is.

The system may have changed from last year, but that’s how it worked then.

I believe financial aid will be coordinated through TAMU next year, instead of through Blinn. Either way, I think you work financial aid through one school and not both. But I’m not 100% certain about how it works.

Not even going to touch the apartment question since everyone likes something different. My daughter went up to CS on a Saturday in late June or early July and started driving around stopping at apartments and asking questions. Only took an hour or two to find something. Probably wasn’t optimal, but at least she found something.

Try Parkway Place, they are brand new and offering great incetives. My daughter looked at alot of places, three weekends worth! They were offering $1,000.00 off rent and no security down payment.

Blinn said that TX A&M was handling the financial aid this year.
