Blocking blue light

I am in the market for new eyeglasses. Because I am losing my central vision, I have been using electronics to do most of my reading, unfortunately, that seems to be making it worse, because blue light contributes to cell death.

However, there are new lens products that block some of the harmful light, but as they are new, Im still tracking info on how well they work.

I was wondering if anyone had tried any of these lenses & what they thought?

EK, you are smart to look into the blue light issue. This, apparently, is the biggest culprit that causes dry form AMD. Some of my coworkers got light yellowish-orange tinted lenses for work on the computer. Apparently, there are lenses that block certain part of the spectrum that do not look like sunglasses:

EK, I have no advice or experience with these lenses, but I am curious how your condition was diagnosed. Was it through a routine eye exam with a regular ophthalmologist? What were your symptoms?

Ive been going to the eye dr about 4x over the last few months, several different tests each time.
Initially it was for a routine eye exam. But I have been unable to read anything without backlighting for some time.
( holding everything up to the end of my nose doesnt work so well.)
My vision of what is directly in front of me is( so far just slightly) blurry & faded, but I have peripheral vision.
I also cannot see at night to drive. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you asked your opthamologist what his recommendations for glasses would be?

Not besides the prescription, I didnt realize he was checking me for AMD, until I went home and looked up the tests, he hasnt actually mentioned that I have anything besides severe myopia(-12:00D)
There is an optical store attached to the Dr clinic, but nothing fit.
I decided to go with the Crizal Prevencia, because I need the new pair for my next appt in two weeks.
Ive been wearing yellow lensed glasses over my current glasses when I am working on the computer, that seems to be helping with eyestrain, but they also block alot of light.
I just want to be able to see, since I seem to be very visual and I cant concentrate unless I can see clearly.
Both the girls wear glasses/contacts and have since grade school, dont know why its dominant, H still only uses drug store reading glasses.
( he also is the same size he has been since I met him when he was 21. Some times life is just not fair. :-B )
