Blueprint Pre-College Programs and Their Value

I’m considering doing the Blueprint Pre-College Program at University of Florida this summer. When I put this on my college applications, will it help my chances at being admitted not just to UF but to other schools as well? Also, is Blueprint a good choice for a summer pre-college program? Thanks!

I think the best way to look at these pre-college programs, isn’t as admission hooks, but as one of many ways for a student to prepare themselves for going away to college. It should be thought of as a fun summer trip + experience living away from home (for a very short time) at college. It’s also a useful way to check out the school/campus.

UF does ask, in it’s college application, if you’ve participated in a pre-college program. I assume some other college may also ask this question. UF uses holistic admissions and a pre-college program may be a minor plus, for some students, especially “at risk” students (low income/minorities).

Make sure you also do other activities over the summer, in addition to Blueprint. Volunteer, work, get involved in an EC/Sport, etc. All of those actives will likely have far more weight in admissions.

Good Luck!
